WRONG

 

Cam has never been "hurt" before this season, and this season, he has good excuses for being hurt. 

 

1. He had surgery which limited his mobility. The surgery had to do with a foot issue he'd had since before he was even drafted.

2. He has arguably the worst OL in the history of NFL football.

 

Tell me one other game he missed in his NFL career before this season? Players play with nagging injuries all the time. That's different from being "hurt."

 

This new "Cam is always hurt" meme is just ignorant.

How soon Panther fans forget who built a Carolina team that went to the NFC Championship team in its second year of existence.

 

The same guy that built a team in Buffalo that went to 4 straight Super Bowls.

 

But yeah... go ahead and tell me about any Panther GM who has ever done any better and because he doesn't tell you what you want to hear about Cam Newton being the greatest you want to bash the guy.

Bill Polian would love to see Newton succeed somewhere else so he could bash Panthers management and ownership.

The Panthers should be begging him to sign long term after the abuse they've put him through this year.

Cam proved he could be a pocket passer the first part of the season.

Not one of 32 QBs could thrive under the conditions this year.

Jerry Richardson has owned the Panthers from the beginning, and when he deserves criticism he gets it too, so what's your point?

Cam really has not been given adequate talent in order to make an educated decision on whether he is a franchise qb or not... Gettleman should do everything in his power to put better talent around Cam, then make a decision at the end of 2015 as to whether he is "the guy".

Show me where I ever said anything about what Bill Polian knows about "football."

 

Thanks for agreeing that there's a good chance that Polian's personal views about Cam Newton have something to do with these comments and accepting that he still didn't have anything good to say about Cam (without qualifiers) even when he was EXCEEDING his expectations.

Oh shut the fug up.

 

In Buffalo, he drafted exactly one good player: thurmond thomas. Go look at the drafts he made, especially during those super bowl runs. Even if they're average, they win at least one of the four they lost. Instead, he blew poo on terrible people. Remember he didn't draft Bruce Smith, and the team only acquired Jim Kelly because the USFL folded. Additionally, the AFC was a fuging joke in the late eighties/early nineties. 

 

As far as the Panthers, he took advantage of an expansion draft so overpowered the NFL got rid of it the following season. He sent the team into cap hell signing veterans in the twilight of their careers. As far as his drafts, he took Kerry Collins, Biakabatuka, and Rae Carruth with first rounders. The guy got a piss easy schedule in 1996 with lots of established players and rode them to a playoff victory over a depleted and worthless cowboys team. His actions set the team up for cap hell until like 1999, when the Panthers promptly signed a bunch of poo heads but i digress.

 

He bailed on the team when he realized what the salary cap crunch was going to be, then went to indianapolis and made the biggest no poo draft pick in NFL history.

 

Other than that, he's famous for changing the rules of the nfl after he realized his teams couldn't beat new england in the playoffs.

 

Polian is a hack, a fraud, the common enemy of mankind, and the second he dies we'll all be better off.

      The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.

      Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
