Winning games vs draft position

I would bet against San Francisco in both of those games.  The season is lost and Harbaugh is all but out the door.  San Diego this week still has a lot to play for and is in the thick of the playoff chase.  The final week Arizona will be fighting for the division, a bye and a possible top overall seed so they too will have plenty of incentive.

Agree on the other two, Miami and Houston should win at least one.

I get the Harbaugh angle but SF is favored this week vs SD in Vegas and ARI's division hopes rest at home vs. SEA this week.  Win, and the division is theirs, period. Lose, and they're going as a wildcard (already clinched), simple as that.  Not to mention they have a 3rd string QB and SF may in fact just play hard one final time for Jim.

I'm thinking the most likely scenario is the perpetuation of the mind numbing status quo, we either drop one game or win out and somehow miss the playoffs, nobody gets fired, and the panthers have another middling draft pick

Same poo that happens almost every year

This is guaranteed to happen. Julio Jones will be out and Tampa will give up and roll over when they know they have Mariota in their hands. Thus Rivera's idiotic decisions to kick a field goal in the Cincy and Atlanta games will come back to haunt him... he won't pay for it however, the fans will by watching shitty rivera ball for another year.

Given the choices i'd honestly rather lose to the Browns or Falcons. However winning out and missing the playoffs is such a Panther thing to do it's all but assured to happen.

Stay tuned for canned in responses from Ron

"We came on strong towards the end!"

"We're going to carry this momentum into next season!"

"We had this that and the other thing to deal with!"

Bullshit. Make the playoffs or fuging leave. I'm tired of this carousel and song and dance every year. You're not going to carry this momentum into next season, you never do, you just can't get the team to gel cohesively and allow them to play in first gear until the very last minute, and then they play the way they should've played all season.

Honestly the December of the 2010 season was more exciting than this, because then you could at least look forward to everything getting shaken up.

fuging ridiculous how Ron was given ample opportunity to have had the division clinched right now if he were any good, but he had to piss it all away so badly that we can't even control our own destiny, we have to depend on fuging scenarios. I'm so sick of this poo.

It would be one thing if a team in this division was 11-5, but at least we are in position for a playoff spot as long as we keep winning. The only issue is that we're not in control of our own destiny.

In years past, Atlanta or New Orleans would have the division locked up at this point and only then would we start winning. Big difference.

I hear ya. I am just saying that I think that we still miss the playoffs. Like I said, we will win just enough to screw up our draft position but not enough to make the playoffs. We will have to wait for 2 more weeks to see if I was right. Hope I am wrong. The other bad thing is that the more Rivera wins the less likely that he will be gone.

    • PJ's completion % was 63% when starting games in Carolina.  Which I believe is better than Bryce when starting.  And again, 4-3 as the starter here and the LONE QB Carolina has been able to actually win with in the Tepper era.  If you ask a gambling gunslinger to come into blowouts.....they are going to go down in a blaze of glory.  Which he would do.  Yeah, he isn't good.  And gunslingers are supposed to have rockier stats than checkdown QBs.   So....why does PJ Walker have a better comp % as a starter than Bryce Young.  And for every knock you want to make about PJ, you can find something or a skillset that PJ does better than Bryce.   I didn't say PJ had good field vision.  He doesn't.  Tell me about Bryce after he comes off the first read lol.  Let me repeat, PJ Walker is not a good QB.  He is NFL depth and an in house arm.  Bryce Young doesn't belong in a convo w/ Jake and Cam.  He belongs closer in a convo with the backup caliber QBs Carolina was forced into playing.  Which isn't just PJ Walker.  But Kyle Allen.  Moore.  Guys like that.
    • Oh I see what you meant by memory. I will trust my memory, I have looked a a lot of those ball charts for Bryce and they trend a general pattern. They thing that has changed that I have noticed more recently is the reduction in the bunching of behind or at  the LOS passes over to his right.  Aside from the quantity of throws recently since the running game has become a more dominant factor.
    • Yes but you basically said you are going from a quick skim of those charts without doing the same for Bryce and/or Andy. So you are going memory vs. snapshots. That's not going to be a very comprehensive analysis.
