Riverboat the genius?

Nothing changes if that was a loss or a tie...

If we beat ATL, we would have a better record than them and win the division.

If the Saints win next week (along with a CAR win), we would have been tied with them and have had the tiebreaker because of Division record and win the division

Do you even math?

Rivera is not a genius. This coaching staff is the weakest piece on the team. Even weaker than the OL.

The players win in spite of the coaching. The coaching puts the players in bad positions constantly, and it is only when they get out of the players way that you see production. This is very apparent when they finally let Cam go and make his own calls with audibles at the line. Cam is much smarter on a football level than many give him credit for, and this coaching staff needs to stop locking him down. Time to let him fly and live with his mistakes. The rewards will be so much sweeter than the risk.

Calling a QB draw from the shotgun when you need 2 yards. Anyone who knows the numbers can tell you a QB sneak under center even if the defense knows it is coming is much more successful. This coaching staff will not give up on winning with the OL and DL while saving their star players for the second half. They have it backwards. You lean on the stars to get the team up 2 or 3 scores early and then go to the OL and DL to seal the game. Otherwise you just let both good and bad team stay in games with you up to the end.

Anyway, they do not know how to use their personnel very well.

I will say the luck shined on the Panthers this season. With the slow offseason and the new/young players trying to gel and heal the Panthers have been allowed to use the entire season as an offseason. Now, they are coming around with the receiving core and Cam with chemistry, the DBs finding a unit, and Charles Johnson healing up and coming on at the right time. Not to mention the constant re-tooling of the OL that has led them to somewhat of a sustainable unit.

It did take the coaches way too long to figure out Bene and Norman were their best CBs, Norwell was their best guard, to sign a vet OT to plug into that garbage OT experitment. They should have signed one more vet OT and benched Bell. Took too long to figure out Stewart should be the starter, and I still think they go back to DeAngelo when he is ready which is a mistake.

The talent is there to win games on the team, but the game plans are beyond horrible and appear to be exrtremely cookie cutter in the first half each week. Had the one week against the Saints, which was by far the best game plan this season. That game plan played to the teams strengths. The typical game plan they use play to their weaknesses and the coaches seem to be fine with playing to their weaknesses as though it will become a strength.
