"The Carolina Panthers will play for a division championship and a playoff spot on Sunday in Atlanta against the Falcons. That the Panthers are 6-8-1 and will finish with a losing record, no matter the outcome, has dampened enthusiasm after a 12-4 season in 2013."

Article was a basic mish mosh (on various levels) and not worth reading.

For example: Even if the no other team besides the Panthers has double digit representation in North Carolina, they still add up. Here's how the articles PPP poll tallied up the numbers regarding NFL fans in the area:

34% of North Carolinians identify themselves as Panthers fans, with no other team hitting double digits. The Cowboys and Packers tie for second at 7%, followed by the Patriots and Steelers at 6%, Redskins at 5%, Broncos at 4%, Giants at 3%, and Falcons at 2%.

This means only 34 % of North Carolinian's identify themselves as Panther fans, while a whopping 40% identify themselves as something else. :phew: That sounds about right, if you listen to Charlotte area radio, or go to BOA sometimes, right? The article didn't convey this.

Regarding support of Rivera: Here are the numbers:

37% of Panthers fans approve of the job Rivera is doing to 32% who disapprove. In the Charlotte area, where fans presumably follow the team closest, only 35% approve of the job he's doing to 44% who disapprove. 41% of fans think Rivera should return for next season compared to 29% who think he should be replaced.

So though Rivera may have a plurality in NC (though he doesn't in Charlotte), he still has a meager 35-37 approval rating, with most fans either disapproving or unsure of Rivera.

That's not saying much about Rivera's popularity or support, which sounds just about right. Even during 2012, when fans were probably more willing to give Rivera a chance after Newtons banner 2011 season, poor 2012 start, with better finish, he could only garner 44% support.

Negative. It should always point north toward BofA.

But it was pointing North toward Bofa last year in the playoffs??  Shouldn't there be some kind of playoff calibration?  Like maybe pointing to Arizona after the first home game or during the game.   My god man, the responsibility you bear for such an important artifact must be immense.

Now I'm second guessing myself.
