If the Panthers lose should Ron Rivera return?

The freaking starts is what pisses me off. Start to the season, start to a game, start to the third quarter etc etc ........ plus after allllllll the starting problems, the comeback factor isn't strong either. Then there's shula and rodgers........ not a fan of either and hope a replacement is in order. Sooooo if mcderpment leaves and shula/rodgers are replaced..... you might as start over at that point. I don't hate if he gets fired, nor would I hate if he stayed..... just like improved OC & ST coaching if he stays.

4 years Is enough guys. Seriously, are you OK with 3 out of 4 losing seasons? We are wasting our talent and time if we keep him. 3 out of 4!

He took over a 2 win team....so in theory he is suppose to have some rough seasons from a w/l stance IMO

Simply replacing Jimmy with rookie Cam would have made that 2010 team at least an 8 win team, in my opinion.  I don't buy the "he took over a 2 win team" argument.  2011 would have been at least an 8 win team with lame duck Fox.

Not really bc Fox wouldn't of started Cam and if he did he would have dialed him down more than we have ever seen.

Fox dials down Peyton Manning often

I give credit to Ron on Cam....why I initally liked him. He threw a ton at Cam and gambled....not many coaches do that IMO. Why I use to be a Ron supporter

Season 1: His team started playing hard late in the season after it was lost.

Season 2: His team started playing hard late in the season after it was lost and he was feeling the heat.

Season 3: His team started 0-3 and he was feeling the heat big-time (a story about his future being in jeopardy was "leaked"), so he started taking more chances, started playing some of the younger guys, and his team went on to win the Division and #2 seed.

Season 4: His team started playing hard late in the season after even local Charlotte radio finally had enough and turned on him saying he wasn't the guy. Again, he then started playing some of the younger guys that he apparently had sitting on the shelf all season behind garbage vets. Team made a run for the division, and in the scenario you setcame up short.

Should he return for Season 5 if they lose? No. He's shown a clear pattern of not motivating a team talented enough to win games to perform at its best until 1) he thinks he needs to save himself, or 2) the pressure to win is less because it looks like they're out of it, neither of which should be "good enough."

I would fire him even if he wins the Super Bowl.

Why? We could have won the Super Bowl in 2011 and 2012 when Ron sucked up until December if the NFC South was as bad as it has been this year. We didn't because normally this division puts an 11-5 12-4 or 13-3 team in perennially. The NFCS is having a down year; by far worse than any other since realignment. Ron got an extension and went back to his old ways. The fact that he has somehow lucked himself into a potential playoff spot despite his obvious regression doesn't change the fact that his usual coaching style hasn't shown the ability to set this team up for consistent success. We can't count on the NFCS winner to be a team with a 7-9 or 8-8 record every year.

I think he's an average coach at best, it's his fourth year and we still see him making the same mistakes.  Either way this is gonna be his third losing season in four years.  He's not going anywhere, but if we did lose Sunday and he got the axe I wouldn't complain.  Rivera isn't bad right now, but we could definitely have better.

Lol

Opinion...null

If he's the greatest post-season coach in the history of coaching, but never coaches well enough in Sept-Nov to see the postseason, what does it matter? Whatever happens in (and if we even make) the playoffs is irrelevant because Ron can't count on our division to fail every year to compensate for his unacceptably slow starts.
