Do not leave NE out of the equation......not every team has a QB willing to give money back.

 

NE has been one of the worst drafting teams I have ever seen for the past 10 years or so.  Absolutely atrocious.  They are successful because of a brilliant coach who will do what it takes to win, the winning culture that has followed that, and a QB that eventually turned into one of the best in the game (though they haven't won a SB since he has risen above game manager).  I dare say the Raiders' drafting wouldn't look so bad put against the Patriots'.

Neither Cam nor Luke strike me as the type of NFL player that needs to have the biggest contract at their position to justify how good they are, and they have seen first-hand the damage that huge contracts can cause to a team's roster.

The Patriots do fine in the draft cause they get a ton of picks every year. They have a lot of busts, but they still get a few quality starters every year because they get so many picks.

They have missed more then hit on draft picks. But they do kill it in FA..

Again the Patriots get a lot of picks so that they can whiff on a lot of picks.

 

Say what you will, but NE drafted 8 of 11 of their Offensive starters and 7 of their 11 Defensive starters. That's basically 70% of their roster they drafted themselves.

 

You could make an argument they could have done more with all the picks they had, but the Patriots get much more than the average NFL squad out of the draft in the end.

Meaning can Gettelmen be like those GM'S. Make the playoffs every year but still able to get players out of later round picks..

His last draft he got KB at 28th picked and was still able to get 4 starters and 1 contributor with later picks in each round..

Ummm.... I believe so. I mean DG was once of the best scouts in the league before he became our GM. DG did help put together some winning SB teams in the past. That includes the NYGs. Who won 2 SBs with Eli at QB. lol I think DG can get it done with no problem.
