Stewart Starting Per NFL.COM

He has shown that he can start and produce the last few games. He has shown Rivera he can trust him to start and stay motivated. Given he is going to be the featured back going forward, it is great that he ready to be the go to guy and needs no external motivation.

There's no way they'd have started Williams.  He might get a few carries to give Stewart a breather and keep the defense off-balance.  But if they'd started Williams that'd have to be one of the dumbest moves in the history of the NFL considering Stewart is killing it right now.

The bigger question is how many touches Williams takes away

Actual rushing attempts? I'd speculate any attempts Dlo gets are subtracted from Fozzy, and even there it would be hard to say. I'm sure that each RB has plays they are specifically suited for. Guess we'll see. If Dlo is successful when he gets a rush or pass, does it really matter?

    • I assume you are quoting my still. If so, I don't know what your argument is since mine was simply showing a play where Bryce scored a TD against the Rams in the playoffs where another poster used a similar still of Herbert's line to defend his poor performance last night. Like I said, Herbert is a better QB but Bryce wins the game last night for the Chargers. It simply is something he does better than Herbert and would play to his strengths. Someone even said earlier Chargers only win 1 or 2 games this year if Bryce was their QB which is so absurdly laughable it wasn't even worth trying to address. I mean this thread is literally called "Bryce Young is the worst QB in Panther's History" so I understand there is no objective arguments to be had here but I found that amusing.
    • I think his knee would make a good reason to switch to guard IF he returns.  Half don't.  Half of those don't last too long.  The strain on a knee (320lb man) vs speed rushers is more substantial.  So I would keep him if I could on a small contract (he will make $17.5 in 2026 fully guaranteed) and think of him as a possible guard for the post Lewis/Hunt era.  Knee injuries in big men are not invitations to invest in them.
    • I'd give anything to go back to a 4-3 but we are so removed from having the pieces for that. All because Tepper wanted to force this 3-4 on all our coaches.
