so can we lighten up on the smith doesn't mentor wr, or the speculation that him a KB wouldn't have been a good combo?

about the same time people accept steve smith is gone, no longer a panther, and can stop posting threads every time he sneezes. Is that okay with you?

maybe because we only drafted like 3 or 5 in a decade while he was here, and they all flopped. lafell has been the best wr prospect we drafted since KB for the last decade in a half

but since you guys keep clamoring about it here's a recent mention of it

now let's here some of your Logic......

This is all the more reason to knock Steve Smith and his actions while he was a Carolina Panthers. It is on record that Smith didn't help our young WR's develop, one reason why he was released. Smith leaves, goes to a new team, hoping to blend in  and trys to play the good guy role by helping Torey Smith. Yeah sounds like he's a real sweetheart.

The Carolina Panthers owner, Jerry Richardson,GM Dave Gettleman,HC Ron Rivera didn't think Smith was a good mentor to young WR's or would mesh well with QB Cam Newton. You think otherwise,so I suppose you are right and the people that make decisions for the team are wrong. Congratulations on your great insight, how dare them disagree :)

you didn't even answer the question, did you even read the post? i clealry said name a wr that left CAR while SMITH was still here and lit it up elsewhere ......lafell had a career year, but he had that with tom brady as a qb and on a team that passes more then us..........also with him being the main wr target. Lafell having a career year had far more to do with those factors then anything else.

so how about you just take a break posting until you actually know what your talking about.........

I know you are a child, and probably next to illiterate, but for goodness sake, please learn to capitalize, punctuate, and spell, if you are going to try to carry on a real conversation.

That said, it's very well known, at least to people older than 17, and to most all football fans that SS was not great in the locker room, and went out of his way to NOT help younger WR's develop.

I think the read a lot of people (including Ravens fans) have come away with is pretty accurate.

First off, if you just wanted him to come back as is, he's already expressed that he wants to do that so no need to say anything at all. Asking him to 'think about it' says you're not on board with that notion. And Harbaugh's comments about him playing a 'different role' next year back that up.

They believe if he did come back, he could only be effective as a part time player, and his contracted salary is more than you want to pay a part time player. Now rhey could ask him to take a pay cut, but he's expressed numerous times before that he's not up for that. They could cut him, of course, but that's be messy. If he retired though, less hubbub and more cap savings.

So yeah, I think they're hoping he'll choose to retire and save them both money and trouble.

Will be interesting to see what he does.

Smith has already stated at least 5 times that he's retiring a Panther.

Harbaugh is in over his head.

Thinking that he can get Steve to retire?

Yes. I'm very serious.

Harbaugh is probably the 2nd best coach in the NFL.  He has a ring, and is consistently in the playoffs in a very tough division.

He also has the full backing of one of the best FO's in the land.

Newsome may have his hands tied a bit but JH does not care.  If they want SS out, he will be out, no questions asked.  They are trying to give a borderline HOF'er an easy way out, he may not take it, but the Ravens won't give a crap.

Plus 89 was a hired gun/rental. 89 has no attachment to Baltimore. They can part politely. Or they can at least extend it politely....

Hey Steve, you sure you want to be that far away from your family to be a small roleplayer next year? No? Good. Bye.

Please use reading comprehension.

Steve Smith will not retire.

I'm not saying Harbaugh can't get rid of him. You're picking a fight with someone that agrees with you. But he won't get rid of Steve through retirement.

I didn't say he would retire, maybe you need the reading comprehension.

I'm just saying that the Ravens aren't really worried about SS, if he retires it's better for the cap, but they won't hesitate to cut him if they don't want him there.

Yeah lets make excuses about grammar to hide the fact that you don't have anything to back your opinion and you continue to talk out of your ass...........

if you would take the time and read instead of going off half-cocked you wouldn't look like a fool

    • As I've said numerous times the last few days, having Thielen on the field has literally 0% to do with my views on this (I've even said I think Renfrow is going to take a ton of snaps from Thielen anyways).  He has more value to this team without playing a single snap than a 2026 5th round draft pick does for the franchise.   His value is helping set up T-Mac, XL, Coker, and Horn for long term success by helping them learn how to be pros, how to go about their business, how to train, how to do all the little things that helped turn Thielen from a D2 undrafted player into a borderline Vikings legend.
    • He only wants to be traded because it's the Vikings who are calling. If he didn't want to be here, he could have retired, instead he took a pay raise to come back for another season.  I get it, it's an opportunity that he'd like to take, but we shouldn't cut off our nose to spite our face because he now wants to jump at this opportunity less than two weeks before the season starts. I'm not against trading him, I'm just against trading him for a return that doesn't help our team as much as having him on the roster would.  I'll put it this way, if a 5th is the best we can get for him from the Vikings and he's now dug in on not wanting to stay this year, I'm saying screw you and trading him to any of the other 30 teams besides the Vikings for the best offer we can get. He was perfectly happy here a week ago, if the Vikings soured him on that and then want to get him for peanuts, then screw them both.
    • Yes and no, he wants to go back and his wife most definitely wants to go back. He took a bunch of team mates to Minny and has worked out with JJ two offseasons in a row. It's where both him and his wife are from.    The money was basically a please come back and help Bryce. Pretty please...here's some more money.    Now he's agreed to a paycut to go back to the Vikings.
