it is beneficial for gman to get a contract done as early as possible since it would save cap space.  the only reason to hol doff would be to see how healthy cam is next season and if his mechanics have improved at all.

Agreed and would be the smart thing.  No use in doing it now or until the season starts.  Can have it done in Oct and say with his improvements the past few games he deserves it and all will be happy.
