Carolina Huddle Magazine?

We're tossing that idea around.

Inside:

Photos of Huddle Kittens (of course)

Interviews with current and former players

statistics

recaps of some of the best Huddle discussions

columns by Huddle experts

It would be something very unlike ROAR Magazine. It'd focus on the Panthers (and probably Bobcats) primarily.

If you are interested in advertising, let me know.

Anyone interested in getting a year's subscription? We're probably talking a monthly at least until we get the first several issues under our belts.

Objectively speaking, I would go without the recap of huddle conversations... I'd like to read content from a very, very select few when it comes to hearing from huddle experts... I like the interviews with current and former players idea, I hope that can truly get worked out... Stats. Meh... if you're going to fill space with charts of numbers, I think it would be cool to see a new analysis of stats, other than the ordinary- make your own formula for a stat and stay consistent with it.

on the plus side: printing is dirt cheap right now

on the negative side: there's a reason it's dirt cheap, and that's that no one wants to read it anymore. you'd be better to do a subscription based blog.

but if you're dead set on this, pm about printing

jbro mentioned it. learn from cbsports when it comes to ad driven also.

Either get most of your money via ads(and they are going ask how many people currently are on the site) or stick with your bread and butter.

Gotta nail the value of someone reading it. Many mentioned what is free that is online.

Why do I want to read it?

Just putting my marketing hat on...good luck with whatever you guys do

Why print it? Why not add a premium feature to the site and charge for it and include the content you would put in the magazine. If you can't do that because of an agreement with sponsors of this site- link it to another seperate site and host it there. Printing seems a waste of money.

One of the reasons we're looking at this is the fact that the Panthers require a print publication (or being a TV station or radio station) to obtain credentials.

Since we're not going to have a TV Station or radio station any time soon, a print publication could be our inroads to obtaining and securing them.

I also think some things look better printed. I still like to read magazines.

Another reason is money. We've got an advertising deal with WCNC, and a magazine could be another way for us to create some revenue. More revenue means better resources (Video cameras, more sophisticated technology, paying contributors, etc) which ultimately results in a better experience for our visitors.

This is just one idea we're tossing around. Your feedback is greatly appreciated as we try to enhance the site and our community.

    • I don't know. CMC is like others and may have lip serviced that line of " I had no plan or wanted to leave Carolina" I think he even said he bought a house too and wanted this to be home.   Here's what I heard- In a way Panthers org gave him a test and he didn't "fight" back. They approached CMC and told him they wanted to put him on IR since the "season" was over or out of playoff reach. CMC didn't fight it one lick and agreed. They secretly wanted him to kept playing or want to, but there was no kickback. I honestly don't know if its real or not, 5th hand information type deal doing on. Yes he had bruises and pains, but was able to play...... but went along with Panthers staff. Odd to be playing games with star players, but whatever....   Plus the staff doctors found out about his tendinitis and there was nothing to fix it. Even with him missing time, it was the best move to trade him before he got inflamed constantly.    Lastly, its mostly time a combo of stuff, Fitterererere did not sign him to be the highest paid RB. That was classic Marty "give me a" herniay doing. GMs have different values on roster spots and rumor was Fitterererer was one that didn't want to pay RBs. For all his faults, he's right about that......
    • I think google is confusing signing bonus with guaranteed money. If you get a guarantee of say $10 million, it doesn’t matter if the signing bonus is $5 or $8 million, it’s the $10 million number that affects the cap, as the signing bonus is always just a portion of the guaranteed money anyways. And again, I’ll admit I’m not 100% sure about it, but I’m pretty sure it is the case.
