Am I the only one that thinks the Nate Chandler to OT should be put to death?

WOW!!

What makes you think he will improve. .

what makes you think he won't?

I love the fan theory that a project player will not improve.

This was Nate's first season starting at tackle. It would have been crazy to think Nate wouldn't struggle this last season.

When he did struggle as expected, fans couldn't wait to jump his ass. Never mind he was the best option we had at the time, plus the issues with injuries didn't help Nate either.

Nate is a talented player who is still developing. Will he ever be an all pro? Not likely, but he can still improve. He can play both tackle positions, and guard, which makes him a versatile backup at the very least.

Fans need to stop ditching players when they struggle. A year ago, nobody wanted Stewart on the team, even though talent wise, he's a top RB in the league.

Many teams gave up on Remmers, yet he played well for us.

These are just a few examples.

Claw did you watch the games?? There is a difference between struggling and ineptness. . Dude was literally getting thrown at Cam..i've never in my life seen a Olinemen let alone a OT on their back more than Chandler. . Now I might be wrong...and he might improve. . But I don't think Chandler has the upper or lower body strength to be a nfl OT...It's one thing to get beat by speed or better technical moves. By a Dlinemen ....but he was getting manhandled into Cam's knees at least 2 to 3 times a game..

I don't know what G-man or Ron sees in him..but I hope they don't get Cam killed with this experiment. . I just don't see how he can improve from being thrown at the QB like he did this year....

Nate Chandler is a talented jumbo athlete who simply isn't a football player.  He's been moved all over the place on the DL and OL in college and the NFL and it just hasn't worked out anywhere.  Coaches see his physical talent and think they just have to find the right position for him, but he's just not a football player.

Chandler needed strength development and technique. He was terrible and weaker (legs) than he needed to be to play RT, where the players are usually 325 or so.

I would keep working him at T for depth purposes, but keep him (since we just gave him an extension) on as a utility OL who can backup 3-4 OL spots.

I've heard nate is a beast in weight room. I've heard this too, take any DLmen and put him on the OL. He becomes the best athlete on the OL. Its very different to go form running forward, to stopping a more athletic player while moving backwards.

Doesnt the fact he can move form DL to OL make him a football player? I'm still not giving up on him, what's he's doing few have done. Could you name one or two players that had nfl snaps/season on a DL, then switch to OL and get snaps too?

I thought I explained my position fairly well.  He continues to be moved around because he hasn't had success at any position he has played.  His coaches continue to try different positions because they see his physical talent and want to try to find a position where he can succeed.  The problem is that position isn't on a football field and I think that's starting to become pretty clear.

But that doesn't translate on the field.  That's what I'm talking about.  He's a very talented athlete who simply can't play football.  Just look at about the last 10 Al Davis drafts with the Raiders to find lots of examples of those types of guys.  Not every great athlete is a great football player.
