So who "has Jerry Richardson's ear"?

Mr. Scot

In his Black and Blue Review article about players lobbying for Greg Hardy, Bill Voth mentioned that among those doing it were players who "have Jerry Richardson's ear".

Now to be clear, this thread is not about figuring out who's lobbying for Hardy. Feel free to start that discussion in a new thread or in one of the half-dozen Hardy threads already active if you like, but that's not the point here.

Instead, I'm throwing out this general question...

What Panther players on offense, defense and special teams have enough standing on this team that owner Jerry Richardson is willing to give real weight to what they have to say?

(I'll save my own thoughts for later, except to say my general sense is it would be a relatively small number of players)

I can tell you it's not the fans.

No owner in the league polls fan opinions when making business decisions, nor should they.

Greg Olsen is another candidate and CJ word probably carries weight as well..

Olsen I completely agree with.  Johnson is possible, but I'm not as certain.

I think Luke would have his ear if he wanted it, I'm just not certain he is the type to go to the owner about something.  He strikes me more a guy that lets his agents or more outspoken teammates handle off-field things like this.  Although I do think he would lend his support and stand up for something if necessary.

Agreed. And he's young too. I'm sure JR puts more stock into the opinions of guys who've been around for awhile (TD, etc.).

    • I have been doing a bunch of mock drafts and this one interesting scenario popped up that made me question myself. I know our needs edge, mike, OT,wr, and secondary. This situation Love fell to 19 and I know we don't NEED a RB. But if we stay out at 19(I don't think we do) I don't think I could say no to love. If this team really believes in BPA and love is there at 19 who realistic is better than love at this point? Love is a top 5 talent, there is no akeem messador or Caleb banks or Kenyon Sadiq type player I think I would rather have than love. He would make Bryce life much easier, he's a homerun threat on a offense that lacks speed. He's essentially modern day Reggie bush to me and I think he could play alongside Chubba on passing down potentially as a slot and be the speed threat we really need. I think it's a bit crazy but I would be willing to wait til the second round and see who falls at edge(I think we land Chubb or loyd in free agency) maybe chase TJ parker if he falls or Rodriguez or golliday in the second/third. What say you?
    • They have also beaten the Rockets, Lakers, Spurs, and Nuggets...
    • He did a nice job for us. Sorry to lose him. Cue the O’Jays
