Ron Rivera in the month of December

We all know Ron Rivera is good in the second half of the season, and mainly in December...but just how good? Well I did some research and here is what I found:

Ron Rivera In Month Of December (Career With Panthers):

2011:
3-1
Outscored Opponents 137-79

2012:
4-1
Outscored Opponents 143-98

2013:
4-1
Outscored Opponents 108-90

2014:
4-0
Outscored Opponents 111-43

Totals:
15-3
Outscored Opponents 499-310

So...15 wins to 3 losses in the month of December with an average victory of 10.5 points (aka two possesions)....someone should put Ron's calendar to December and let it stay there year long...

The one discouraging thing however is that from 2011-2012 we were putting up an average of 140 points in December under Chud's offense...meanwhile from 2013-2014 under Shula, we only have averaged 109.5 points, in the same amount of games.

Thoughts? Keep Pounding!

I'm actually surprised the point differential is that close. While Cam should have been better the 2 seasons under Shula (just from an experience standpoint), I think Chud had better tools, specifically Steve Smith, Jordan Gross and a younger Kalil, DWill and JStew.

Pretty impressive #s but the bottom line is what his overall record is... Am thinking it's right around .500

Look at Bill Belichick's record after his first 4 seasons... 31-33, with 1 playoff win. Followed by two 5-11 seasons before his success. Just saying.

And trend is in the right direction, last season aside (which is kind of unfair to assess, considering the key losses of Smitty, Gross, Hardy, Ginn, Mitchell, LaFell, etc.

So...what you're saying is Belichick was just an average coach his first 6 seasons, then realized it's easier to win when you cheat on lucky season number 7? ;)

    • Jack Roslovic: Only 2 other UFA, right-handed centers age 28 or under had more points (39) than him- Sam Bennett (51) and Pius Suter (46). There were 4 other centers age 33 and older who scored more: Gireaux (37), Marchand (37), Tavares (34), Granlund (33).  Unless the Canes go old, if they let Jack walk, they won't get a center who scored more.  Thoughts?
    • nope     This is why we come back every year.  Hope springs eternal
    • It's important to differentiate criticism and hate. I can't speak for that individual you quoted. But most people who have been critical of the Tepper's have been so because both of them have made it a point to put themselves front and center and in the middle of team operations and we have been largely horrific more often than not as a result. If people are making derogatory remarks about her that should be met with an appropriate response but if people are being defensive just because she's being criticized all I can say is people should get used to it. Both her and David would have been getting absolutely skewered by the media and the fans if this were a big market franchise. The Lakers are finally being sold off after years and years of public criticism of Jeannie Buss and even though I'm the furthest you could go from being a Lakers fan just about anyone you could meet who is familiar with the NBA would say the criticism was certainly valid.
