salary cap released

Captain Morgan

Side note...this is another reason I "don't care" so much about paying Cam 23 million a year or so. Rising QB contracts, with a rising cap, will help absorb a little bit of the sticker shock. Not to turn this into a Cam contract thread, which I probably just did.

Is it though?

Helps the Saints...

Eh, helps everyone. They're still 15 million or so over...going to have to cut people, with a closing window. Not worried. We're coming out of cap hell, with the cap raising 7-10 million a year let's just say. I showed in another thread about it raising an average of 18-20 million every 4 years since 1994 or so. And now it's drastically raising because of the billions the league is worth/tv deals.

The thread a few days ago about us having 60 million in cap space next year, granted, with some major contracts on the way...just went to 70 million. If not 75-80 million with another cap jump (not like it's going down with the money the league is making). That means comfortably re-sign Cam, Luke...extend CJ, TD, Olsen...and still have a nice chunk of change left over to retain our own, or sign some others.

    • Yeah lol well the interest isn’t really about seeking stimulation.  I wanted to see how actually bad it was.  And how much of it was women setting him up to be their cash cow.  That is the stuff that leveraged the Panthers into David Tepper’s hands. It is important in that sense.     The worst that I have heard is that he got them in the car and clumsily reached across to help them with their seat belt and made contact. With his arm. That was probably his big slick move. And I can almost guarantee he wasn’t rejected every time. It is easy to picture that action bringing his head close enough to the woman’s head to where he could go in for the kiss if he thought he got the green light.    I really don’t care if JR was a horn dog. We heard all our lives up until the last few years that one of the perks of being really old is that you can flirt with the young women and it is not just tolerated but expected. So he was keeping a tradition alive at some point 😂
    • Well I rubbed some dirt on it and am still here just not optimistic about the future of the QB position. Even what I had accepted as a ceiling raised to an acceptable level turned out to be a bit of a mirage, upon rewatch of the WC game.  Good plays were there yes, but some pretty bad ones too that the good ones late in the game kind of obscured. I have to downgrade that a little.  Especially after rewatching the last 4 plays. I remember the arguments about he did his job the WRs didn’t but that was really just that last muff by Coker I think it was on our final offensive play.   To the future: I know what my level is for paying him and recommitting, but I don’t have any confidence that the team shares my high bar.    But thanks for the pep talk
