College football fan challenge: Post your school's draft/UDFA prospects

Guess I'll compile a list for Tennessee.

Justin Coleman (CB): Rd 7

Coleman was a 4 year starter at UT. Struggled his first few years as he was matching up against larger, more physical receivers on the outside. Settled in nicely to nickel, where he was very dependable all season. I think he could possibly be picked earlier than the projections are saying.

AJ Johnson (ILB): UDFA or Possibly not a prospect (see below)

Johnson is a talented ILB. Excels in run support and downhill tackling (led the SEC in his Junior season), average in pass coverage and sideline to sideline speed. He would have been a 3rd rounder or better if not for legal issues. Has currently been indicted in a rape case involving another student at UT. Everything I've heard about the situation points to his guilt, and thus, he won't make the NFL. However, he is innocent until proven guilty, so I guess he can be included in the list for the time being.

Marlin Lane Jr. (RB) UDFA

I think Lane will actually make a practice squad, and perhaps one day, an NFL roster. Not the fastest or most powerful back, but he's shifty enough and hits the hole hard. Dealt with injury and coaching changes at UT and never got the fair shake I thought he deserved.

Justin Worley (QB) UDFA

Worley had a mostly sub-par career at UT. Hard to evaluate fully though, as he made big strides in completion percentage in his senior season, but was lost to injury due to horrendous offensive line play. I think he might be brought into a camp, but don't see him making it in the NFL.

Jordan Williams (DE) UDFA

Williams is interesting as he never stood out, but was always very solid at the LOS. Best suited to play DE in a 3-4 as he added weight at UT to shift inside.

As a side note, you can see how Tennessee has struggled so mightily as of late, with players projected like the one's above.

I disagree, I think he'll be okay-mediocre. Never solid in my opinion, slot guy at best.

I can't argue with your opion, but I detect some disdain for ”slot guys". Recivers who play in the slot can excel. Think Edelman, Cobb, Cruz and Welker! Hardy in the mid rounds makes some sense for a receiving corps and an offense that needs an upgrade.

Nice list and I agree but Maddy is coming back to school. Will be eligible for the 2016 draft.

Yup, I forgot about that, just noticed the end of the footnote it was classified as a medical red shirt.

The safety's at Tech are always something to watch. Never really a top pick, but always that "tweener" guys that can either become boom or bust.

Not the typical draft class for Tech this year, shows how we have stacked the past 2-3 years.

Vic Beasley Top 10

What's to say about this beast? Its just his 3rd year putting his hand in dirt he's just scratching surface. Scary quick burst off line strong as an ox also. Could be a stand up olb in 3-4 or 4-3 de.

Corey Crawford 6-7round

Big end long wing span more of rotational or practice squad guy. Strictly a 4-3 sde (strong side de).

Tavaris Barnes 6-7/udfa

Same as Crawford without the pass rush skills. More stout than Crawford so could be a 3-4 de as well as sde in 4-3

Grady Jarrett 3-5

Similar to Aaron Donald in size and being dominant. Underrated because not size but is a man in the middle. Measured at 6 and change so must find right scheme. Could be 4-3 nose or a 3-4 we.

Deshawn Williams udfa

Good solid college player. Made as many if not more big plays for tiger's defense. Strong wide body could make practice squad.

Josh Watson udfa

Probably best moving on to life solid player just not NFL good.

LB

Stephone Anthony 2-3

Big inside lb who is just getting noticed. Rangy guy with good run stuffing ability. Can overrun play or get lost in wash. Not the best in coverage but not horrible. 4-3 mlb or 3-4 2down lb.

Tony Steward 7th round/udfa

Good player just getting back to form after two acl injuries in 2 years. Quiet work man blue collar makes tackles and plays with good discipline. Could be a good special teams player and back up.

DB

Garry Peters udfa

Under size corner who played great as a sr but not much of a prospect.

Robert Smith udfa

Same as Peters solid player but not much of prospect

NC STATE

ROB CRISP

ANALYSIS STRENGTHS  Plays with extended, balanced kick-slide and can rush to meet speed rushers at the corner. Has good footwork and shows accuracy with hand placement usually landing where he is aiming. Uses long arms to his advantage. Can recover back inside to re-set hands when beaten to the punch and is able to extend his arms to run defenders around the arc or up the field. Has the ability to get to most lateral blocks and works hard to maintain his base and to stay square on stretch plays. Looks for work and plays with a competitive demeanor throughout the snap.

WEAKNESSES  Could use more muscle and bulk. Not as authoritative or physical as he needs to be. Allows his hands to escape the framework of defender. Need to strike with punch rather than place it. Hands could use more strength to sustain his blocks. On combo blocks, will sit on first block too long before looking up linebacker. Has tendency to narrow base and get bucked off of block. Doesn’t possess lower body power to drive defender and pry open a lane. Anchor must be monitored on next level. Struggled three different times to redirect against inside moves by Clemson pass rushers.

NFL COMPARISON  Tony Hills BOTTOM LINE

Hard-nosed, high effort tackle whose feet are always in motion and who has the footwork necessary to match up with speed rushers on the left side. Crisp has limited strength and may not be a fit for teams looking to run the ball with power, but his feet and length give him a shot to become an NFL starter at left tackle.

I think Jarrett will be the gem of Clemson's prospects. Strong as an ox and explosive. He was an integral part of Clemson's defense last season.

I have a disdain for slot guys because we need a solid number two.  We have a slot guy with Philly Brown (he suffices at this point).  We need to look for a number two with speed.  Sadly, I don't know if we are looking for that.
