Saints sign Mark Ingram to 4 yr / $ 16 million contract

This year's cap is 143 million. Before signing Ingram (and i bet that contract is heavily backloaded since they have enough trouble right now) they already had 140 million allocated for only 33 players next year.

With Ingram they'll have 34 players under contract but will surpass already the cap limit if it were to stay the same.

They'll convert roster bonuses this year into signing bonuses to spread the hit out and make cap room. Next year there are a lot of high base salaries for the same players, so those will get converted to signing bonuses also to make 2016 cap room. Then Brees will be done in 2017 and the house of cards will collapse on itself.

    • Pretty insane that the beat reporter for the Carolina Panthers didn’t know that XL’s parents both died while he was in HS. That’s a horrific fact about XL’s life that has been brought to the public’s attention countless times during the pre-draft process, post-draft process and so on. We have to have the worst beat reporters in the NFL.
    • I've been saying F*** David Newton for years this article was when I decided to mentally block him out of my life. https://www.espn.com/blog/carolina-panthers/post/_/id/11784/russell-wilson-showed-cam-newton-what-a-franchise-quarterback-looks-like
    • Oh I know, I'm just replying to the person who assumed he went to "journalism school" lol. He can barely spell/form a proper sentence vocally or on paper but here we are over a decade in with this guy...
