The #Bucs are releasing DE Mike Johnson, another big-ticket FA signing from last year. Wow. Owed $7M still

The #Bucs will release DE Michael Johnson by 4 pm today.

reported that the Bengals are hoping to bring back Johnson if he were to be released by the Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers signed him to a five-year, $43.875 million deal with $23 million guaranteed last March.

According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Johnson outright will free up $2 million in cap space, while also creating $7 million in dead money. Waiting to June 1 to release him would have given them $4 million in cap room to go along with $4 million in dead money.

Johnson, 27, recorded 27 tackles, four sacks and two forced fumbles over the course of 14 games for the Buccaneers. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 53 defensive end in a 4-3 system out of 59 qualifying players.

Jets believe they’ll be able to get a deal in place with free agent Antonio Cromartie at some point in the near future.

“it’s going to get done,” but the two sides are still working out the final details of the agreement.

Jets are the “clear leader” to sign free agent CB Antonio Cromartie, and the expectation is he signs there.

newly signed CB Darrelle Revis has been recruiting him to return to New York.

free agent Antonio Cromartie is expected to make a decision between either signing with the Jets or the Cardinals at some point on Wednesday.

In 2014, Cromartie recorded three interceptions, 10 pass deflections, and 48 tackles. Pro Football Focus rated Cromartie as the No. 45 overall cornerback out of 108 qualifiers

Now if they re-do Goldson's deal I'll hit the trifecta

Vikings, Saints, Steelers, Panthers, & Dolphins Have Shown Interest In CB Patrick Robinson

CB Patrick Robinson has received “some” interest from the Vikings, Saints, Steelers, Panthers, and Dolphins.

Robinson, 27, is a former first-round pick of the Saints back in 2010. He’s played out his five-year, $9,409,500 contract that included $6,085,000 guaranteed.

In 2014, Robinson appeared in 14 games for the Saints and recorded 39 tackles, two interceptions, and 11 pass defenses for the Saints’ defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No 40 cornerback out of 108 qualifying players.

Robinson is one of those guys that some looked at and said "maybe he's in the wrong scheme" while others just said he was bad.

Wouldn't mind investigating.  He certainly showed talent early on, and Lord only knows what Rob Ryan was doing with his 'revolutionary defensive ideas' last year.

    • I respect his enthusiasm. Time will tell if it's warrented.
    • Oh I went off and fully entertained my wife last night as my emails go to her phone as well because of my health. So she got the whole conversation as it happened.    Like I went to games in Detroit for the cup finals, I've been to games in Greensboro, Raleigh, and Chicago as well. My mom and her nurse friend double dated one of the players from when the team was in Greensboro. "He's still with the team in some compacity as well." I know people who work for the team at the arena as well. How the hell would I not be considered a fan. Only reason I haven't gone to a game since 2022 is because of my health and money situation. Last game I went to was at United Center in Chicago and me and my wife spent around 1k for glass seats and some food at the arena and we were next to the penalty box. The pictures of the hurricane players I took are lost because my phone crapped out a few weeks later.
    • The Falcons win was a fantastic way to end the season and I think just about every Panthers fan would agree the team the coaching staff and particularly Bryce Young were impressive. We really needed that. Credit where it's due. At the same time. Now we have to establish it wasn't just a flash in the pan. We had one of those earlier in the season against the Raiders. As a tortured Panthers fan I have to acknowledge that. I know you're joking but in all seriousness I don't think the QB sneak is something for us to be concerned about in general but I would be lying to myself if I did not acknowledge that looking back at one particular game last season where we continually trotted out Eddie Pinero on 4th and short on the opponents side of the field we could use some creativity in those situations and it's also a matter of predictability. As time goes on it's something for Canales to work on and figure out. Especially with our kicker situation as it stands.
