We've never had a winning season in franchise history with a losing preseason record

Are preseason results more of a harbinger of things to come than people like to admit? Probably not and this is just a coincidence, but every time in franchise history that we've had a losing record in the preseason we've ended up with a losing record in the regular season.

Fox era

2008: 2-2 preseason, 12-4 regular season

2007: 1-3, 7-9

2006: 4-0, 8-8

2005: 2-2, 11-5

2004: 4-0, 7-9

2003: 4-0, 11-5

2002: 1-3, 7-9

Seifert era

2001: 2-2, 1-15

2000: 0-4, 7-9

1999: 2-2, 8-8

Capers era

1998: 2-2, 4-12

1997: 0-4, 7-9

1996: 2-2, 12-4

1995: 3-2, 7-9

Also, like it was mentioned last week or the week before, every time we've made the playoffs under Fox, we had won the third game of the preseason that year.

I had a hunch that was true.

History is made to be broken.

Prior to 2003 they had NEVER gone to the Super Bowl.

Based on what I'm seeing, they have 9-7 written all over them.

While i'll say that 8-8 isn't really winning or losing, Preseason winning records also seem to not conclusively correlate to the regular season.

That being said we must be screwed either way OH NO!!

We've only had 4 losing preseason records (2 under Fox), that's not exactly a large sample pool to make predictions from. 3 of our 4 best years have come after 2-2 preseasons. I don't think there's a huge indication from ONE more preseason loss, which is the difference between going 1-3 or 2-2.

    • Two things: 1. Dr. Eric Eager is central to the draft process 2. I know that it was edited, but we didn't hear "Thieneman" one time, not even before the Vikings pick.
    • Why would he sign here as a guard when surely someone would sign him as a tackle?  Assuming he is healthy
    • Went back to watching the highlights. With a sober mind haha. Here is what I saw.    freddie needs to make 1 of those but the rest aren’t on him.    Slavin was BBBBAAAD again last night. Not sure what is going on with these game one Slavin gafs.    miller was ok but had his worst game in the playoffs so far.    nikishin was no good. His his awful turnover led to the first goal at the end of the first period that just can’t happen. ghost was beat like a drum multiple times last night, including the go-ahead goal at the end jarivs wont shoot. He is either hurt or he is struggling mentally and I think it could be a combination of both. He passed up a wide open net on the power-play only to pass it to no one and cleared it himself.     Svech played well. He is getting zero help on that line.    aho. Worst game as a pro. I mean that. He won’t shoot it, passes go to no one and turns it over repeatedly.  He did exactly what they did against Montreal game one when Miller had a turnover. Aho left his man to go help and left the golden Knight player wide open in front of Freddie.  If I was Rod, you Tell Aho when that thing hits your stick you fire it  someone needs to sit him down just him in a room and ask what’s going on. He seems soft, timid and has zero fire.   canes could have won that game   There isn’t a gap between these two teams  they are dead even   Carter Hart’s gonna get lit up in this series. We can beat that guy. the consensus last night was our defense played horrible and our stars won’t score.  clean the defense up. Tell the top line to shoot it everything and we’ll win tomorrow night.   Possibly convincingly.
