BBC fires Jeremy Clarkson

Clarkson's list of perceived offenses is really an indictment of what prudish, banal and militantly politically correct modern era we live in.

Jeremy Clarkson's gaffes
July 2008: Drink-driving
BBC bosses told Clarkson off for supping a gin and tonic while behind the wheel of a pick-up truck
November 2008: Lorry drivers
With reference to convicted killer Steve Wright, Clarkson joked on the show about how lorry drivers "murder prostitutes"
February 2009: Gordon Brown
The then prime minister was dismissed as a "one-eyed Scottish idiot" during a press conference in Australia.
October 2009: Black Muslim Lesbians
Clarkson said that the BBC was obsessed with hiring black, Muslim lesbians to counter the number of white heterosexuals in its ranks.
July 2010: Burkas and lingerie
During a Top Gear discussion on distractions while driving: “Honestly, the burka doesn’t work. I was in a cab in Piccadilly the other day when a woman in a full burka crossing the road in front of me tripped over the pavement, went head over heels and up it came, red g-string and stockings.”
August 2010: Special needs
Clarkson referred to a Ferrari as 'special needs' and a 'simpleton' as a way of giving it a bad review.
February 2011: Mexico
Clarkson sparked a diplomatic incident, and was forced to apologise to the Mexican ambassador
January 2012: India
Viewers complained about Clarkson's provocative remarks concerning the country's clothing, trains, food and history.
May 2014: The 'N'-word
Clarkson was forced into a apology after appearing to mumble the word as he sang a nursery rhyme on Top Gear.
July 2014: Slope
Ofcom said he had breached their guidelines, when he referred to an Asian person as a 'slope',
October 2014: Falklands
Jeremy Clarkson caused offence this time by driving through Argentina using a number plate apparently referring to the Falklands War.

Thank God George Carlin died when he did so he didn't see what we would become.

I can promise you this; I won't watch Top Gear without him. Then it's just a show about proper, racially ambiguous Brits using carefully scripted language to describe sports cars. I hope against hope that Clarkson, May and Hammond come and do a show on Netflix.

Captroop. You're my dude. But mentioning George Carlin in the same post as that douche is borderline unforgivable.

Clarkson, May, and Hammond are Top Gear. One without the other two just doesn't cut it. I can see them leaving together for another channel or project. I'm not saying they're bigger than BBC, but in reality, they can move on together and still be successful.

I do agree that some of the things on that list are a bit over the line, but the majority of the stuff is just the character of Jeremy Clarkson... the character that BBC paid not one, but TWO, seven figure yearly salaries for

BBC is just crumbling under pressure and are going to hurt themselves in the process

Rip top gear

Jezza, Slow, Hamster, the production/editing team and together with BBC resources, put together one of the greatest tv shows in the history of television.

They were the modern day three stooges with a brilliant twist.

All three are insanely smart and clever but Jezza led the pack with his comedy genius.

Jeremy Clarkson the douche is 99% just a character for television. Of the things on that list, only one was out character (the G&T while driving). That's like getting angry at the exploits of a professional wrestler. It's just mildly offensive British humor; take it or leave it. To say that makes Clarkson a douche is unfair.

I don't know what caused the "fracas" but I'm sure there are two sided to that story.

I used to watch Top Gear.

I don't know the man personally, but I don't agree with just shrugging off some of his comments, particularly the racial ones.

    • If you're looking for a pat on the back it sounds good in theory until you realize they also had the 2023 Panthers as the top draft class.
    • Going into the 2003 and 2015 seasons we were supposed to be the joke of the league each time. In 2003, John Fox was supposed to still be in rebuild mode. We had a guy named Peppers on the defensive line who was supposed to be pretty good. We had Rodney Peete as our starting QB and a line that was a lot of hope and not much experience. Our new running back was a guy the Redskins, errrr Commanders, had jettisoned for being too old. We had a good kicker and writers thought that was needed because there were going to be more field goals than touch downs. Heck, it looked like they were right up until just before halftime of that first game when we had to yank Rodney Peete and put in some Cajun duded whose name couldn't be pronounced. And Steve Smith? He wasn't Smitty yet. Moose Muhammad, well, he was close to being written off as a bust. You know how that turned out. And then in 2015, we had Cam Newton, who was electrifying to watch but hadn't really won anything yet. There was an offensive line in front of him that looked like it was made in a defunct Swiss cheese factory and our big hope on offense was the great Kelvin Benjamin. And then he got taken out for the year with a knee injury in training camp. Ted "Feet of Lightning, Hands of Stone" Ginn became our default go to guy beside our next best hope, yeah, Devin Funchess. Our defense was pretty good, a scrappy bunch with frikkin' awesome linebacker play and a cornerback who had done more than drank the Kool-Aid, but had snorted the powder. He played like a superhero and became sort of a bat-man during the season. By the Super Bowl he had completely lost his freaking mind, though, and managed to talk his way out of a contract with the team next year. No one was expecting us to win the NFCSouth that season, much less almost go undefeated and into the Super Bowl. So, 2026? Who knows? But our best seasons came when no one had a reason to believe in us, except us.
    • it's not so much this personal vendetta against the Carolina Panthers as it is more about Bryce Young never not once been in the same conversation with the top 15 or even top 20 Qbs in the NFL ..just saying
