Throwing down the gauntlet, at #25 I want one of these three guys

I'm surprised Preston Smith hasn't gotten the "fast riser" treatment from the media. He's a guy I feel like some teams would fall in love with, but he has mostly flown under the radar. I really like him. That said I'd much rather go CB/DT/Landon Collins if we go defense at 25.

Will be awhile before I get that excited about a draft pick again. The fact that it forced the DT needy Saints to take Vacarro with the next pick made it that much sweeter.

This.  He was THE guy I wanted that year.  Even if we had the #1 overall pick, I would've still wanted Star.

Me and my buddy who is an Eagles fan always text each other through the draft.  When Star fell past the Jets at #9, I started thinking, "Ya know, maybe there's a chance..."  When the Jets took Richardson at #13, I called him up just flipping my poo.  "We got him!  We got Star!"  My buddy was like, "Uh... what if y'all don't take him?"  It just stopped me in my tracks.  I was dumbfounded.  Whatya mean if we don't take him???  I couldn't even fathom it.  Thankfully, Gettleman wasted no time and saved us any further suspense on that one.

I remember that night like it was yesterday, as soon as Goodell walked up to announce the Jets pick and I heard him say the Jets select the "Sh" part of Sheldon Richardson, I got so stoked!

Heh, those are my 3 favorite choices for our first 3 rounds in the op.  I'd raise an eyebrow at Fisher or Smith in the 1st, but wouldn't be mad at it cuz I like them both.  I've said it a number of times, Smith is the best 4-3 DE in this draft.  From everything I've read at the moment the perceived value (of course, from people who aren't the ones making the picks or have any influence on the ones that do) of Fisher is a 2nd and Smith is a 3rd so I'd obviously be more happy if they were our 1st through 3rd picks.

I would hate Strong or Melvin Gordon in the first. Strong wasn't worth the 25th pick even before we found out about the injury in my opinion.

I like Fisher but I don't think he fits Gettleman's type. I think Gettleman likes big hog molly tackles rather than the light athletic types (which haven't been great in the league despite being drafted very high in recent drafts).

I would be happy with Preston Smith. His athleticism is severely underrated. He's a better prospect than Ealy and it's not close. Together with Ealy our DEs could be set for a long time.

What's fun about the draft is that we can all have widely differing opinions. Personally, my three players would be Peat, Flowers, and Agholor. Preston Smith and Ogbuehi would be my backup picks (would love to trade up for Ogbuehi in the second round).

    • The league would protect him.  The amount of poo Jerry Jones has had exposed and got away with?  The amount of poo Stephen Ross has got away with?  How long Dan Snyder got away with essentially fuging sex trafficking employees and poo???????  Taking down JR was a hit job.  You think the other 31 owners, especially the older ones aren’t blathering, blatant, ignorant ass, bigoted rich racists who have committed far worse things than Blue Jean Fridays?  The ones I named above have DEFINITELY did worse than what JR was accused of.  And do you think guys like Steve Smith would’ve been viewing him as a father figure if they felt that’s who he was?  JR pissed the league off with that last lockout situation and they made him pay.  They lined a new guy up to join their billionaire boys club in Tepper, and they prolly slid a pretty penny to Jonathan Jones to write the “expose,” to get JR out of here.  Again, all the owners I’ve listed above have been verified on record for doing worse poo, yet they’re still running their organizations, unquestioned.  They hand-picked Tepper long before JR was forced out, so he isn’t going anywhere.  Sadly.  fug the NFL.  (Also, to be clear, it’s always fug racism, bigotry, and sexual exploitation - not ever excusing it.  Just making the point that the NFL isn’t operating under this clear standard of justice applied to each and every case)
    • I was still in the throes of a contentious divorce and my job at the time had me work on Sundays.  At the beginning of the season I tried to still work around Sundays so I could see our games.  I think after Bryce came back from the benching, I said fug it.  First time in my life I intentionally didn’t watch our games, even through the Atlanta finale.  In the past, even if we didn’t live up to expectations, I would watch to still support and at least analyze player development, strengths and weaknesses, coaching, etc., but Bryce makes all of that a moot point, so I stopped watching. Again, this is asinine,  it if he is retained (still can’t believe this is even a possibility of a conversation due to how shitty our organization has become under Tepper), I will NOT watch next season until he is gone.
    • Live look at Bryce playing ping pong.
