Hornets offseason

So now that the Hornets season has ended less discuss our offseason.

Cho had a presser that says that Lance didn't work out this season and he told Lance that.

Also he said that he did a lot of Pro scouting this season and he believes we will get a good player for our team.

Does Cho have a plan on acquiring a new player for our team?

Will Jefferson stay with us or will he opt out?

So far he says he will stay but things could change.

Who will we draft?

Who will we resign, cut and sign?

Could Lance be on his way out?

Time to discuss.

Personally I would love for us to get rid of Marvin Williams. Bizmack played well in short periods of time so I believe we should keep him as a back up. I don't believe we have a lot of cap space so if we plan on signing a big name we would have to cut someone.

I kept meaning to make a thread for it, but I read an article after the season ending pressers where AL said he is definitely opting in (as I stated he would), and Hendo said he wasn't sure what he would do.

I certainly hope Hendo opts out, and best of luck to him going forward. He's good at what he does, but just like with the Panthers, we will continue to spin our wheels with him until we're forced to make an adjustment. The problem has always been, what's he is good at, we're already stacked full of it (non-shooting, defensive-centric),so the more we can start distancing ourselves from those same players, the better.

Why would Al even think about opting out at this point? In one short year he went from looking like a reborn offensive post powerhouse to a broken down washout. I don't think his stock would be so high on the open market right now.

Oh we're stuck with Al, lol.  If he comes out and dominates (countract year so he probably will) I could see us moving him as an expiring to a team in playoff contention or something.

Hendo I bet stays, unless the market is dried up and he feels he could get something out there.   It would be best for us if he leaves.

I'm not sure Marvin can be moved, he's not worth his contract, not even close, unless we trade his expiring for a player that could help us.

Biz needs resigned, he's young and plays hard, he's earned it, he's earned a spot on this team more than a lot of the other guys.

We're stuck with Lance, like Al, unless he comes out and balls.  He may, since it's a contract year.

We're going to have mostly the same team with a couple new, cheap faces, imo.   We've dug ourselfs a hole, so we're stuck for a bit.

Honestly, with how inept our FO has been in player signings/re-signings, I'm certain AL is gonna get a loyalty extension regardless of how he performs next season.

It sucks...

Also funny, I mentioned how both AL and Lance looked like they did absolutely nothing in the offseason but count their money, and guess what comes out in the end of season pressers? Cho and AL agreed that he struggled with his conditioning and weight throughout the season and that played a huge part in his struggles. It was easy to see. To me he looked fat(ter) and slow(er) from the first game. Seemed winded like never before, and something as simple as FTs that he used to be pretty good at, he suddenly struggled with.

These guys suck...

Everyone loves to crap all over Hendo, but unless there is a noticeable upgrade out there that we could afford, we need him a lot more than he needs us. He has improved to the point where you expect his mid range jumpers to fall and he has added a nice corner three to his game. He will never be an all star, but I appreciate what he gives the team. Plenty of other players to blame for this train wreck of a season.

I couldn't help but notice that out squad only had two players play more than 66 games which was Hendo and Marvin Williams. Injuries did put us back a lot. Kemba was playing great but he got hurt and struggled to look like the player he was before his injury.

I believe big Al only played 65 games while Zeller and Biz missed a lot of games which hurt our front court. Even Lance and MKG missed a lot of time and it seemed like every time MKG was out our team was horrible which is saying how good MKG is

I wasn't blaming him, and I appreciate his effort and what he has done in his time here. That being said, i would like his 6M salary to spend elsewhere a lot more and see what we get out of it. And honestly, we have tons of wing players that can play D and shoot poorly. He is starting and gets minutes because our coaches and FO are scared to do anything else. He is most likely a non-offensive factor/shut down, effort d-specialist on a playoff team. We can certainly upgrade there if Cho would start using his eyes instead of his analytic computer software.

This team needs a better backup center than Biyombo. And considering Al probably won't be starting here beyond next season, looking to the draft for the answer seems a smart choice.

Biz is the least of our worries.  I believe if he could start he would drop 10 points/10 boards a game easily, and if we had actual people that could score/shoot around him (a real SG) he would be fine.   We need a scorer, one that can shoot, more than anything.  We haven't had one in so long if ever.

    • 100%. And these same people will claim you have an agenda. You can't have it every way. We had the lowest rated defense in the league last year. Statistically the worst ever. By PFF grades (for whatever that's worth- but they are readily accepted, used, and conveyed by most "reputable" sources), the defense was the worst ever. Not only that, PFF rated our receiving corp the worst in football last season. The absolute worst... out of 32 teams. Which is why regardless of the lip service Canales and Morgan paid to the current guys, they knew it would be criminal not to give Bryce more help. People fixating on team stats and not taking these things into context are stupid, plain and simple, and I'm for one thankful they're not running this team (or probably anything for that matter bc they obviously can't discern reality. Again, going back to the eyeball test these Narrative Nancies seem to hate so much, did they not see the windows Bryce was putting balls into? Have the generally not watched much NFL? Please, please show me the film where all these NFL QBs are making throws like this to this point Bryce was "below average" down the stretch compared to them. Bryce made more wow throws in that 3 game stretch of the Bucs, Chiefs, and Eagles than every other QB combined in all the years since since Cam got hurt I genuinely am baffled by people that can watch throws like that and act like it's nothing. I guarantee you Steve Spagnola, Todd Bowles, and and Vic Fangio didn't think it was nothing after watching the little guy torch them with players those teams would be embarrassed to trot out at the skill position players. The national media spent all year making excuses for Mahomes not having elite weapons when he had multiple 1st & 2nd round talents at the skill positions along with future HoFers in Kelce and Hopkins. Bryce wasn't throwing for 300 yards every week with David Moore and Adam Theilen in spite of jaw dropping throws and you want to say the guy played below average. For those people, again, we ain't watching the same sport. And the name calling doesn't change that... The vitriol and projection... it's off the effing charts with these people.
    • "Well you see if you remove this terrible game that terrible game this other terrible game and then focus on these games you'll see he's actually one of the better QB's in the league and he's actually as good as Jayden Daniels". My god this place is delusional. I love it.
