Which two round scenario appeals more to you?

A.  Strong and Fisher are both great prospects.  Peat would be great, but Devin Smith potentially has a limited role (I've watched lots of breakdown videos of him, not highlights, and he mostly just seems good for the deep ball...I want more than a 1 trick pony out of our 2nd round pick).  I like Shaq well enough, but not as our first pick.  Would be fine trading up for him in the 2nd (using other picks from this year, not next year's picks), and I'd be good with Ogbuehi in the 2nd.

my next route breakdown is for Smith. he is not a 1 trick pony, and i think scheme played a role in why he went on so many vertical routes.

Probably should have made this a poll, but I hardly ever do polls.

Just going by what I read, it sounds like A and B are much more popular options than C.

Still, the differences contribute to my feeling that this draft is as wide open as any I've seen for a while.

You may be right, but Gman would have to have faith that Smith is going to show the ability to run the full route tree, and get up to speed pretty quickly if he expects him to have an immediate impact (like is the expectation for most second rounders).

Have we even worked him out? If we havent , then I doubt that he would be picked in round two considering that we have never drafted anyone in the first couple of rounds that we didn't personally visit with in some form or fashion. And I am not talking phone calls.

Voth doesn't have him listed and a cursory search turned up nothing about us visiting with him.

That's because most everyone wants a WR including me.

I just think over the long haul landing Shaq and plugging him into our defense will be scary. Combined with the fact that WR is so deep this year we can get help there in the later rounds.

That being said all 3 options are great. Which means Dave is going to draft a DE/RB in the first two rounds.

Solid 'long haul' thinking is one of the things that I think distinguishes Gettleman from Hurney.

Not saying Hurney didn't ever think 'long haul', but I believe Gettleman is better at it.
