I'm not big on Peat myself, but if Gross likes him that makes Mr feel a lot better about him. Gross was a fantastic technician at LT.

I don't get to hear a lot of radio with work and all, what did Gross say?  Did he give a breakdown of all the top tackles or was it just something in passing?  Link would be great.  Thanks

 

It was on the same episode of "This is Gross" where they were discussing the schedule release, don't remember exactly what he said but I think he had him as his BPA.

I view that differently because they were teammates - Gross has no personal reason to support Peat as far as I know.

Peat is just one of those guys where opinions differ greatly. Some teams/scouts/arm chair GMs view him as a top 15 player. Others view him at best as a late 2 rounder, more of mid-rounder. He's the top OT on some boards, others in the 6-10 range.

He doesn't fit "zone blocking" schemes or any ones the require lots of running(philly etc.) So fits in power schemes, but some view him as soft.... I think that's in part due to him playing at stanford....... the current and 6 years ago cardnails are not the teams of 20 years ago with their big brains and such.

I hope teams 1-24 view him as a reach, it would be a star-like fall if he made it 25.

Im a fan of peat, simply because he has such a monstrous frame that spews hog molly.

If hes willing to work he will end up fine the nfl. Conditioning programs and good coaching can address his downsides, just a matter of him having the work ethic or not.

Now that I think about I don't see Peat falling to 25, a team above will definitely take a chance on a guy with his potential....

If something like that happens, I wonder how far Scherff could fall and if he slips to the late teens, could that be a possible trade-up for us?  That's one of the few trade-up scenarios I'd like.

Lot of love out there for Stanford OT Andrus Peat. His stock -- make of this what you may -- has risen in last month. Top 20 guy.
