Daniel Jeremiah's Top 50

Jeremiah's top prospect overall is USC DL Leonard Williams.

Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon are ranked consecutively, Gurley at 12 and Gordon at 13.

The top Ugly is DJ Humphries at 17, followed by Brandon Scherff at 18 (who Zierlein says is his top OL), Andrus Peat, TJ Clemmings and La'El Collins at 21 to 23 and Ereck Flowers at 27.  After that, there's not another OL till Jake Fisher at 45 and Cedric Ogbuehi at 49.

Trae Waynes is far and away the top DB at 10.  the next guy from the secondary is Landon Collins at 19.

Also a couple of items from Jeremiah's Twitter...

I've talked to several personnel guys that think Dupree is going to get picked ahead of Beasley and Ray. Bigger/stronger

Most coaches love Vic Beasley, scouts are more skeptical.

2 names that keep popping up in my discussions with league execs: OT's Jake Fisher and Donovan Smith. Both likely go late 1/early 2

We've talked before about the different perspectives you get from scouts and coaches.  Here's another example.

Fans of Jake Fisher hoping he can be had in the second might be disappointed.

Would you take Fisher at 25?

That's the question I'm struggling with. I would absolutely love Fisher to be the tackle we leave the draft with, but I don't think he can be justified as BPA at 25 and you certainly can't count on him being there in the 2nd. Tough call.

I wouldn't mind it. I watched his combine and he looked VERY good compared to the other guys. Also looked really intense. Now I've never seen him play one down of football, but from what I saw and what everyone else says, he looks like a nice pick to my untrained eye. We need an OT and he looks like a nice OT at 25. Would 2nd rd be better? Of course, but like the other 11,256 guys mentioned in the offseason, he probably won't be there at 57. :D

So let's change it up...

Assume Andrus Peat is already gone (Tony Pauline thinks he'll go top ten) and La'El Collins is off the board as well (likely).

DJ Humphries and Ereck Flowers are still available.

Do you take Fisher over those guys?

fugKKKKKKKKKKKK no.  Flowers or bust in that situation.

I think he's a plug-in LT so I would.  It would really depend but I can see a scenario with that happening.  Although I think DG has something else in mind.

I've been struggling with sorting this whole OL the entire offseason.

Even with the comments from scouts that Flowers is probably a right tackle and Fisher is built for the left?

Flowers has way more potential than Fisher.  There's a reason Flowers is predicted to go first round and Fisher is predicted to go in the second by everybody.

Yeah, I'm leaning away from Flowers. Fisher, Peat and Humphries appear to be the top true left tackles in this draft. Peat and Fisher are the most NFL ready and Humphries has the most upside but is raw. If we go OT in the first I want it to be one of those 3.
