Cam needs to step up this year

Recommended Posts

Probably unlike most of the huddle, I am not 100% sure Cam can lead us to a Superbowl win or become that great QB we hope and expected him to be. He has been inconsistent since coming into the league.

Yes, he has had some significant limitations (OL and OC) but OL should be much improved this year.

I would like to be able to see him with an actual OC who has produced top 10 offenses but unfortunately, I do not see Shula getting fired due to our defense keeping all the games close. I hope I am wrong on that.

So, Cam has to take that next step WITH Shula. As of right now, I am weary of investing the farm on a guy that is as inconsistent as Cam.

It's a good thing you're not GM then huh? Do you think that Cam doesn't know he needs to get better? We don't need dumb poo threads calling him out as if he was satisfied with the results of last year. Rivera has said the same thing)without the investing in him threat), and so has Cam. You are not bringing anything new to the table.

We have been hearing the "I / He needs to get better" every year and still we see the same problems and inconsistencies.

It's time to put up or shut up. Or people to stop with the unrealistic expectations and opinions.

Can Cam improve? Obviously.

Is Cam even on an extended list of problems for this team? No.

Becoming more consistent will be nice and something I hope for. I expect it will come with an improved OL and him finally being healthy. Throw in a hopefully healthy Stewart running the ball instead of Deangelo, Tolbert as well, and another weapon or two and I expect him to make strides this year. Now, will Shula or injuries hamper that? We shall see.

Newsflash but no QB is perfect. You are the type of person who expects Cam to be perfect when there are no perfect QB's in the league. Every single one makes mistakes, so get that through your head first of all. And secondly you act like Cam has had the perfect O-line these past 4 years when he hasn't. You may not want to hear it but circumstances do matter. If an O-line is poo, how do you expect a QB to be consistent when he has to worry about protection. Gettleman has pretty much said that Cam is the franchise QB so short of Cam regressing, he's not going anywhere.

I'm curious. If being a fan of the Panthers makes you so weary, why do it? Plenty of other teams to choose from.

If you like being depressed, that's on you. I choose to let go of the baggage of the past and look forward to a new chance to win it all.

Do what you want and I hope it works out for you.

Well we haven't exactly given Cam a good enough supporting cast the last few years. However I do agree to extent. I would like to see him start taking over games with his passing prowess and we all know he can do it. He's  got enough to work with at WR now and the line has gotten better. Really really want to see Cam pass for 27-30 TDs this year.

As Cam goes, we go.  2015 decides if Cam is a lifelong Panther or a Dallas Cowboy more than likely.

I'm betting black and blue.

In fact, I'm betting we win the South for the 3rd year in a row, prolly win 11 games or more and have a good chance to be in the SB.

Let it play out.

He didn't say he needs to be "perfect", he said he needs to take his game to another level, which is true. If we are actually expecting to win a superbowl, he has got to. And newsflash to you too, no O-line is perfect either, which is why Cam has to get better at pocket awareness, situational football, anticipation, etc. so he can help them out as well.

What pocket?

    • Bryce Young isn’t a bust, the Panthers are | SB Nation https://share.google/oYybGvyvzUOIgbplX From a couple months back, came up on a quick Google about Bryce Youngs processing ability. Emphases how struggles are not his fault but the poor team built around him. I don't really feel like looking for others; it's similar to various things said across the league.
    • Okay, I'm going to take a controversial stance here... maybe. I think that we are told constantly that the QB is the most important player on a football team. And many times, that is true. They can make a team or break a team. But what if the QB is just one of the cogs that makes the team work. Like the computer in a car, it doesn't run the engine, it just sends the electricity/fuel/torque where it needs to go at that minute. It feeds this, then that, this, then that again as needed. If a team is run with this mindset, and the QB is just there to feed the ball to this RB, to make sure the play gets in to all the guys on the field, to make some last moment adjustments and make some throws to open receivers, then it all works. It's game management, it's playing point guard, it's the pivot point. And, well, Bryce has been doing that. He's mostly been trying to let others do their jobs and stay out of their way. And, like it or not, the kid has shown remarkable resilience when the game is on the line. He suddenly gets tough and focused.  Nope, he's not turning in the stats to make the fans cheer. He's not throwing precision strike bombs every third play. But he's somehow there, making his contribution. He's not a star, but he's not bad either. And that makes it tough on the fanbase. It's hard to get behind him and cheer him on. Even though he's been behind center for one of our best seasons at the midpoint in a long time. Maybe he has a breakout game and passes for over 300 yards and 3 TDs. Maybe he completely collapses in a five turnover, seven sack game. Maybe he just keeps handing the ball off and making some decent mid-level throws when needed. Who knows? But I will say this. The kid that got just thrown into the bench from that sideline smash early in the Green Bay game got up like a helluva man and went back out and competed. Stats and stature aside, the guy ain't a pushover. And you've got to respect that.
