....................Expecting more than just “good” feels like asking much, but Miller is clearly the generous type. Mad Max: Fury Road is better than just good. It’s “great,” perhaps even better, though piling on superlatives too quickly, too soon might do the film a disservice. If Miller had simply aimed just above the line of “serviceable,” he still might have sated his audience’s action cravings. But after maintaining a holding pattern for so long, “satisfactory” wouldn’t have passed muster. Miller knew it, too, so he decided to swing for the fences. Try naming a modern blockbuster that has as much chutzpah as Mad Max: Fury Road. You can’t, because there isn’t one. This is what happens when you lay out all your crazy on the screen at once: glorious, crackling entertainment.

I just watched it and honestly the visuals are a modern day masterpiece, utilizing every ounce of 2015 movie making technology. Its an instant classic for any sci-fi (since its post-apoc) or action fan. The movie puts it foot on the gas both literally and figuratively from start to finish. A must see and instantly the best movie of the year so far. Don't expect your girl to enjoy the story though but she will enjoy the music and visuals, so bring her at your own risk.

Alright well here's my review. No spoilers at all.

Let's be clear. This movie is freaking awesome. It is the best action movie I have seen in the last 5 years. Easily. I have not been this satisfied with an action movie since the first expendables. You will pay money for this film and be very glad you did. I will buy this movie the day it comes out.

Hardy is awesome as usual. He touches a film, his scenes are awesome. He wasn't quite the Max you'll know, but Mel Gibson has a certain style that can't be matched, so Tom just did his own Max. No shame in trying to be your own man.

Charlize is also freaking awesome. She is not helpless, she is in control and she rocks the freaking screen.

Here are some of the highlights (no spoilers again)

All sorts of different kinds of characters who bring something interesting to watch for their scenes.  They'll all captivate you at some point in the film, all of them. The villains are so great

The visuals are fan-freaking-tastic. A lot of practical effects that come out looking great and when we went CGI it also shined.

The pacing of the film is very nice. It gives you just enough time to catch your breath and come down for the next bang.

Action is God tier. It is incredible. The perfect blend of everything. It just feels so good and smooth, yet gritty and rough. Loved it.

The apocalypse setting is fantastic. You feel like a world without hope is all there is.

Go see this movie. It met the hype for me and the hype was unreal.

Just gotta shout out to Charlize Theron, I usually hate waif model types in action movies. Especially when they are supposed to be badasses. I just can't beleive a 110 woman with hair extensions can throw a punch. But for some reason, that doubt never entered my mind with Charlize. Perhaps owing to her outstanding acting abilities, but she was every bit the badass the character demanded. Loved every second of the film! I might have to go back and rewatch it in theaters. It's that spectacular. Exactly what a summer action should be. Exciting without being brainless, or most importantly soulless.

    • That is just Panthers history pain speaking.
    • From what I gather, sure it allows you more room in that you can manipulate the cap more due to smaller prorated amounts to fit salaries in, but for cap purposes, you're still on the hook for the money at the end of the day.    "ChatGPT You said: What are the advantages for NFL teams to sign larger signing bonuses? ChatGPT said: NFL teams often use large signing bonuses as a strategic tool in contracts. While they cost real cash up front, they offer several advantages, especially when it comes to salary cap management, player retention, and negotiation leverage. Here's a breakdown of the benefits: ✅ 1. Salary Cap Flexibility Signing bonuses are prorated over the life of the contract (up to 5 years) for salary cap purposes. This allows teams to spread out the cap hit, even if the player receives the money immediately. Example: A $20M signing bonus on a 4-year deal counts only $5M/year against the cap. ✅ 2. Attracting Top Talent Players love signing bonuses because they're guaranteed money paid up front. Offering a bigger signing bonus can sweeten the deal without inflating yearly salaries. ✅ 3. Front-Loading Real Cash, Not Cap Teams with strong cash flow can pay big bonuses now while minimizing the immediate cap hit. Useful for teams trying to build around rookie QB contracts or with flexible cash budgets. ✅ 4. Locking in Key Players Larger bonuses make it harder for a player to be released early due to dead cap consequences. This can create more job security for the player and roster continuity for the team. ✅ 5. Leverage in Restructures Big signing bonuses create future cap hits via proration. Teams can later restructure deals (e.g., convert salary to bonus) to create even more cap space. ✅ 6. Competitive Edge In free agency, a team offering more guaranteed cash up front often wins the bidding war, even if the total contract value is lower than another team's. ⚠️ Key Caveat: Large signing bonuses increase dead cap risk if the player is cut or traded early."   I think that roster bonuses can be a useful tool if you're trying to keep players in by manipulating numbers and spreading the hit over time, but I don't think that it's something that you want to use unless it's "necessary." I don't know that you want to get into signing rookies on roster bonuses, as the bust rate is relatively high.
    • not even if that team in New Orleans disbands before the first game.  Saw one 2026 mock that had them drafting first next year.
