To be honest, he did this a few years back, but it's relevant again in the face of his retirement/promotion.

Leavy was not assigned to work Seahawks games for several years in the aftermath. He later apologized for some of the calls in the game in a meeting with Seattle reporters in 2010 to address rule changes for the coming season.

“It was a tough thing for me,” Leavy said. “I kicked two calls in the fourth quarter and I impacted the game, and as an official you never want to do that. It left me with a lot of sleepless nights, and I think about it constantly. I’ll go to my grave wishing that I’d been better … I know that I did my best at that time, but it wasn’t good enough … When we make mistakes, you got to step up and own them. It’s something that all officials have to deal with, but unfortunately when you have to deal with it in the Super Bowl it’s difficult.”

According to FootballZebras.com, Leavy will replace Johnny Grier as the northeastern regional supervisor of officiating.

 

At least he'll be on the opposite side of the country so the death threats should be at a minimum.

i hate the pittsburgh steelers and their fans but i have to admit that i took some sadistic pleasure in watching the seahawks get jobbed after they embarrassed us in the nfc title game

Meh, he shouldn't feel bad. Humans aren't perfect and relying on them is the problem.

We have cameras and video. Why not use technology? Why are some plays not able to be overturned or changed? Why can't we put chips in balls?

The league can get better and more accurate if it wants, and until it does mistakes like these are part of the game and no one is being robber or cheated out of a game.

NFL doesnt want accurate. They just want to control the perception of the masses and run the league like a billionaires play club
