David Newton (and others) think our uniforms are outdated

According the power rankings executive committee, only five teams have worse uniforms than Carolina. Fortunately for the Panthers, two of them are in the NFC South, so they rank second in the division behind New Orleans.

Carolina is given kudos for consistency, having stuck with basically the same black, white or blue jersey with silver pants with a predominantly silver helmet since the team began playing in 1995.

But in Carolina’s case, the committee says the pointed pants piping, divergent helmet stripes and color scheme “all feels badly dated.’’

Too bad the all-black look Carolina’s worn less than a handful of times since it debuted in 2012 was not a part of this evaluation.

Two years ago, that look won an NFL.com fan vote for the “Greatest Uniforms in NFL History." Yes, history. There were some questions about the voting being stacked or rigged, but that’s another debate.

That Carolina had worn that combination only once before the controversial vote was more intriguing.

Regardless, I agree the Panthers could use a new look.

We must kill David Newton.

I love our uniforms and dont want them to change. We are winning a Super Bowl in these uniforms, then why would you change it after that

Tell this to the Packers or Steelers. The Dolphins uniforms are updated but suck their old ones were way better

And the old Dolphins logo did not have to be changed the new one is gay. Bucs uniforms are nice and updated but are atrocious arena football league poo. JR dont change them, and to whoever owns after JR, hopefully MJ, and why wouldnt it be MJ, please dont change them

To that committee...

You don't badmouth Carolina uniforms and color schemes.  We take that poo serious.  Real serious.  Ask Derek Anderson.

it is not a "committee", it is a douchebag of one and has a thread

• All judging has been done by the Uni Watch Power Rankings Executive Committee, which has a membership of one and freely admits its biases. The committee is rather fond of striped socks, for example, but is less enthusiastic about monochromatic uniforms (solid-red, solid-black, and so on) and takes a dim view of design "innovations" that just feel like gimmicks.

Huh, I somehow completely missed that thread.  Well delete it or merge it or whatever I guess.

But anyways, lol how the fug is one person a "committee"?  David Newton's dumbass didn't even bother to mention that in his article.

    • If we lose tomorrow we’d have to sweep the Bucs in order to get into the playoffs. With a loss tomorrow the Bucs would then hold the tie breaker if we finished tied If we can’t split with NO then we sure as hell not sweeping Tampa It’s win or go home tomorrow in my eyes  Biggest game since 2017 playoff game imo
    • Grok AI: No, there are no credible reports that the Carolina Hurricanes offered Jake Guentzel the same contract terms as Tampa Bay (7 years, $63 million total, $9 million AAV) before he signed with the Lightning. Reliable sources, including The Athletic, consistently reported that Carolina’s offer during negotiations was an eight-year deal worth $64 million ($8 million AAV). Guentzel did not accept it promptly, leading the Hurricanes to trade his negotiating rights to Tampa Bay on June 30, 2024, for a 2025 third-round pick. He then quickly signed the 7x$9M deal with the Lightning on July 1, 2024. Guentzel himself later reflected (in 2025 interviews) that staying in Carolina was his initial preference, but negotiations stalled and “didn’t work out,” with Tampa’s opportunity becoming a “no-brainer.” No reports from outlets like ESPN, NHL.com, or insiders (e.g., Elliotte Friedman, Pierre LeBrun, Frank Seravalli) indicate Carolina ever matched or offered the Lightning’s exact terms—total money, AAV, or length. The extra year was Carolina’s key advantage, but they reportedly stuck closer to $8M AAV and moved on when Guentzel explored options.
