NBA Finals Thread

Jordan literally missed buzzer beaters all the time.

Of course he didn't make them all it was an exaggeration, but to say he missed them "all the time" is outrageously stupid. He made more than he missed, which is significantly better than most.

He scored 44 points but took 38 shots. He didn't even attempt to play defense. He drove to the basket and scored at will the entire game. Then with 8 seconds left he just dribbled and jacked up a fade away 3 pointer. Then in OT he completely disappeared and didn't score (minus a garbage layup). He doesn't have a killer instinct. Never has, never will. He's gonna be 2-4 in the Finals. The only reason he's made so many Finals is because the East is complete garbage. The only good team they faced was Atlanta, and they were decimated by injuries.

Exactly why there's at least 50 players in the history of basketball I'd rather have on my team than LeBron. He's the most physically gifted player in NBA history but he's a mental midget.

Im curious as to why some of you hate the Warriors? We haven't won poo in 40 years and have a team full of players that don't get bullshit foul calls and don't bitch. They just go about their business each night. Is it some hipster thing where you don't like them because other people do? Like the guy that hates iPhones because it's by far the smoothest running phone so it's like nope droid edge z7 platformz ftw?

I'm genuinely curious.

Well, yes. That's a major part of it. Look at this post. You sound like St. Louis Cardinals fan, and no one likes St. Louis Cardinals fan.

You want to still play the beaten down underdog role but you're 67-15, have the MVP, and are the only team left in the playoffs that hasn't been decimated by injuries (we will find out years from now that Steve Kerr made a pact with the devil or something to keep the Warriors of all teams healthy in the playoffs.) It's a historically great team. So great in fact, it's made LeBron the underdog.

LeBron is in his 30s with double digit seasons of NBA service. For all we know this is Cleveland's last chance at a championship. With Curry in Oakland until 2017, conventional wisdom says the Warriors will be in the hunt until at least that time.

And then there's the bandwagon, which I've harped on enough on here, but that happens to every good team. It's especially annoying when it's in your backyard and is going to make us look like idiots when Curry doesn't walk through that door in 2017. Worse though, is the "I don't like the NBA but I like Steph Curry" folks. I suppose that's great for the league, but it just perpetuates that "wrong" bandwagon mentality.

Hopefully this covers most of the bases.

I like GS have never had a problem with them. Cleveland on the other hand I can't stand all the way back to the Craig Eloe days. And then after Lebron left for Miami the NBA fixed several drafts to help them out. Hope they never win a thing.

Was rooting for the Warriors (Curry that Carolina boy) all evening last evening.  Nothing but love this way, good sir.

We don't agree on that much, Mr. Thomas.  You're a bit of a homer when it comes to the Panthers.  And I can let that slide, but boy, I can't argue with this one.  LeBron is one of the worst jump shooting superstars of all time.  If I have to hear another skewed stat by ESPN catering to this bum, I'm gonna go nuts.

See that's the problem with LeBron dick-riders. You all think he does everything by himself. Tristan Thompson played better than LeBron that game. Without his boards, LeBron scores in the 20s and the Warriors blow them out. Kyrie was on fire before he got hurt. And you've got Mozgov playing fantastic basketball on both ends of the floor along with Shumpert playing lights out defensive. He has a complete team around him and all he did was shoot the ball 40 times and choke at the end and everyone thinks he carried the team to an OT. Please.

Never said lebron did everything on his own... but you are a complete retard to think he is not the most important player on the team.

I don't feel like we are an underdog anymore. We are the best team in the NBA through having a great GM making great moves and using mostly drafted talent.

I I guess I just don't get the hate. Like if Cam lead the Panthers to a couple super bowl victories over the next few years and people started hating the Panthers just because we are good.

Makes sense I guess. People always hate on success I suppose. We are all guilty of it.

LeBron, Kyrie, & Mosgov were the only 3 players to score in the 2nd half & OT.

Cleveland is gonna have to give LeBron a fat extension this off season. He isn't taking a discount. He intentionally took a one year desk to get more money this off season.

They traded away Wiggins for Love. They'll have to give him a big contact extension this summer or watch him walk away via free agency.

They gave Varejao, an injury prone 32yo C, a $30m  extension. His cap hit is $10-15m over the next 4 seasons.

Kyrie is immensely talented but his body is never going to allow him to reach his potential. Consistency & durability are two of the most important attributes for being great. He just had a body that isn't going to stay healthy. And Cleveland is paying him $100m.

They gave away two 1st rd picks for Mosgov. They aren't gonna be able to get any good young players on rookie wages either.

Aside from those 3-4 guys the only good player they have is Thompson. And he is going to be a free agent this summer. They'll have to pay up or lose him.

That core is never gonna win a title. Doesn't matter though because they'll never be healthy to find out. LeBron only has 2-3 years left at an elite level, if even that much. He is a large man who plays a very physical style and has logged an insane amount of minutes since he was 18. He averages over 40mpg, has played a ton of playoff games, Olympic games, etc. I don't care how great he is or how much of a physical specimen and freak he is. He might be the most impressive human being ever from a physical standpoint. Doesn't matter. He's still human. Father time is undefeated. Age and wear will catch up to him.

And Cleveland isn't gonna be able to put a championship roster around him in that time frame. Too much money locked up.

Cleveland might make 2 or 3 more Finals, but they are not gonna win a title. The east is terrible. That's the only reason he's made all these Finals consecutively. It's not that impressive.

Michael Jordan was a better individual player in the 80s than the 90s from a statistical standpoint. MJ was the best player on the planet and it wasn't even close. Just like last night. LeBron was on a different level than everyone else.Yet he lost because his team is so inferior. LeBrons game last night is what MJ did every night for 5+ years. Yet he always fell short to great teams in the playoffs.

This is what i tried telling Bron fanboys all year. It doesn't matter how great he is. It's still a team sport. If MJ couldn't carry a team to a title by himself nobody will. It won't happen.

Bron screwed himself when he went to Miami. He should've sacked up and stayed in Cleveland. They could've built around him instead of throwing all that money at guys like Irving because they were desperate without Bron.

He'll never win another title.

Exaggerate much?

50?

The mental midget in this conversation surely is not Lebron...

    • lol well that kinda ended up working out in the end, even though I still don't have my jersey yet. Was supposed to ship by tomorrow this time, but just got another email saying it was delayed another 3 weeks and because it's been delayed so long, I had to tell them to keep the order or cancel it, but gave me a 25% off my next order as an apology. Well, my original fear came true and they are now selling the FUSE version (but still not the Blue unfortunately) before the one I ordered was ever shipped. But that's awesome, because I was able to use that coupon to order the FUSE instead and then cancelled the original order.  So I got the jersey I wanted for only $6.30 more than the crappier version costs, and it also says it will be shipped immediately and get here early next week, or 2 weeks before the other was now supposed to be shipped out.
    • I've watched this and think we are well underway.  Believe it or not, Bryce is a big part of this.  The way he bounced back with such grace.  And we've got a lot of young players who want to make their mark, Dave is giving them an opportunity.  I loved our draft.  I like the number of guys we brought in, and they will help build the culture we want under Dave.  We're getting closer, and I think we'll see more wins this year than most of the board. The right culture breeds winning, and winning builds the right culture.  Imho, it's coming.
    • As others have said it's both. One creates the other. But it also takes time sometimes years. And there have been teams lately with new car smell coaching staffs that looked like they were putting it together quickly but things came crashing back down to Earth. Sustainability is the key. For that to happen the meddling of our owners has to stop and they cannot be tempted to return to their ways over any bump in the road either.
