I agree that Cam is one of the most polarizing figures in football right now and gets too much criticism which is undeserved.  On the other hand some of the comments posted by the OP as attacks are true.  For example our defense is the main reason we have won so many games.  The turnaround of the last 2 years has been more predicated on the defense than the offense.  The offense has not had the weapons the defense has been given plain and simple.  We did have a 7-8-1 record last year which was a losing record heading into the playoffs and we did beat an Arizona team playing with their third string quarterback.  His QB rating against Seattle last year in the playoffs was 79 and Arizona was 82.  In fact his career qb rating has never been in the 90s for even a season. The only reason guys like Rodgers get less criticism is because he has done a lot more than Cam and put up much better numbers over a longer period.  With of course much better offensive personnel.

Lets be real here,  He gets way too criticism for a lack of offensive firepower or performance which is really not his fault.  Like Shula he can only use what he is given.  Secondly he was supposed to need 2 years to just learn the NFL system and be a starter so he has well out performed expectations.  I think folks just have to let this play out.  He has better weapons this season and hopefully will continue to get even better ones now that we are out of cap hell. Lets have this discussion after 2015 or 2016 and see if people see Cam in a slightly different light as he becomes significantly more successful as the talent around him improves.

The fan bases of our divisional opponents had a deep hatred for Cam well before he was even drafted. The NFL & NCAA share a fan base. While the NFL is far bigger, people in general are more passionate about their alma mater or favorite college.

And Cam Newton wrecked their schools. All of them. He bitch slapped everybody, pretty much all by himself. Nobody has ever dominated the SEC like he did. Most folks in the south simply hate Cam because he ran over their college team. It's really no different than how to this day Duke fans hate Hansbrough or UNC fans hate Redick. They hate them because they were great & whipped up on their team. People attack them personally but it's all because of what they did on the court.

People bring up the UF incidents & Auburn investigation, but it's mostly because of what he did on the field. That stuff is just fuel on the fire. And now he's beating up on their pro teams. He's embarrassed TB a few times & last year he destroyed ATL & NO on their home fields just like he did LSU & UGA.

Cam really isn't that hated nationally. The vast majority of hate you read in comment sections is from bitter SEC fans. And the majority of hate you read on Panthers social media isn't from Panther fans that dislike Cam. Yes, there are some Panther fans that don't like him, but the majority are just trolls or locals that hate the Panthers & like DAL/PIT/NE/GB/etc.

Sure, there are others outside of the south that dislike him but it's not as bad as you might think. Most fan bases outside of the SEC generally like Cam or at the very least respect him & recognize his talents & abilities. There gonna be folks anywhere that dislike any given player. But the majority of fans outside of SEC country will at least admit he's immensely talented, even if they don't like him. Whereas in the NFC South teams are so blinded because of their school colors that they hate him & trash him no matter what. They'll never admit he's good, even though deep down they know he is.

I have personal hate for the argument of no Superbowl and Cam's needs a top defense to win games to justify his contract.

I guess Aaron Rodgers isn't the greatest (GB had the #2 scoring defense the year he won his only SB) & Big Ben rode the Pitt defense in 2005 (4th) and 2008 (1st). I don't think anyone ever criticizes their wins. (well Ben did play like poo in his first SB) The Seattle D and ST outscored the Bronco offense in the SB, Seattle O didn't even need to score at all. The poo-like defenses that won SB's, Giants and Saints and still those Defenses won their titles by making plays in the end.

Just go to Yahoo sports article on Cams "historic" contract and look at the almost 1300 post of pure venomous tripe. I do not remember another player in  my 30+ears of following the NFL that has been hated on like people hate on Cam.

​Oh I do for the most part. It just gets frustrating that people keep posting the same old tired attacks about Cams ability, intelligence, integrity, maturity like they have a clue what type of man he's grown into on and off the field.

I know this might sound like the homer coming out in me, but I truly believe that with Cam being healthy, upgraded O-line, new weapons he and the Panthers are going to make the rest of the NFL hate them even more when he has a MVP type season with a SB run.

In my most sincere opinion,  that Cam and the 2015 Panthers are going to shock the world.
