Best game consoles for kids

Don't get them a Playstation or Xbox unless you want them to turn into little sociopaths who love mass murder. 

 

 

Go Nintendo. Classic games that everyone can enjoy. Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Donkey Kong, Smash bros, Mario Kart, and more are there for them to play. Whenever I have kids that's how I'm going to start them out if they have an interest in video games. Those are all fun relaxing titles while most of the other systems stuff is rated Mature. Don't be one of those parents who lets their 9 year old play Call of Duty. I'd go with the Wii U since it has a selection of old school NES, N64, and SNES games for cheap as well as all of the new stuff.

We have an Xbox but my kids spend all their video game time on their tablets and pc. Not sure if consoles have a future.

i know you weren't being totally serious, but still kids need to be outside more and away from screens. those things can suck your life away.

We have a no screen rule during the week (except for homework) and limit on weekends.

I've still got all my old systems, and the plan is to start my kids on the NES, SNES, PS1, N64, PS2, then PS3 in that order... My oldest is 4, and I will probably start him when he's 6 or 7... I figure by the time he's on the PS3, the PS5 or something will be out for him to move up to in his teens...

I can't wait to plant those proximity mines in Goldeneye and laugh maniacally as my sons trip them over and over...
