Will Hornets make trade on Draft night if so what kind?

This draft is so weird for me. Usually I have some preferences but I really can't find any and my mind changes each day. But since we are talking about trades.

TRADE BACK

1. #9 + filler to Boston for James Young + 16. Boston is rumored to want to move up so we move back pick up a nice shooter in James Young and at 16 can load up with either Grant for a PG or another shooter in RJ Hunter.

2. #9 + filler to OKC for Lamb + 14. Rumor has it OKC wants to move up. We can get our SG or backup SG and then still be in the lottery to try and get our target player maybe Payne, Decker or Grant.

STAY

1. If we decide on not resigning Biz then WCS is my guy. I am a huge fan of his versatility.

2. Oubre and Myles Turner are my WTF picks. They are our typical WTF picks that we have and need tons of time to develop and Clifford doesn't play

3. Booker is my wow we picked a guy everybody thought we were going to pick. I don't see Mario dropping so we get our shooter

TRADE UP

1. Just don't see it happening. We don't have the pieces

I feel like Oubre is gonna be a Hornet in a few days

Would not totally be against this, especially if we use an MLE on a decent shooter in free agency.

It is hard to argue with Oubre's physical ability and potential, however he does seem like a guy who will need to work on his game substantially.

Ty Lawson is a significant upgrade over Kemba. But can't take Lawson without also unloading Kemba. And finding someone to take Kemba and his contract will be tough.

Can't deal for Lawson given his history the past few years. Especially since they are coming off of a failed experiment with a head case.

Guy on HP who claims to have "insider" info has been saying  it's Booker for like two months now.  However he's still saying he's sticking with Booker, but is also saying trade winds are blowing.  Could easily just be blowing smoke, but figured I'd share anyways.

Would be disappointing for a couple of reasons:

Rumors are there are teams that want to trade up to get "their" guy. We have hosted WCS and Myles Turner who make more sense in the top 10 than Booker who is a reach at best all the way at 9. If we like Booker that much we should look to trade down at all possible.

Also, Booker screams another project SG who wouldn't get minutes over Henderson. At least with a guy like WCS you know you would get defensive impact immediately and a guy who can guard multiple positions as well as avoiding having to overpay Biz and being able to move on from Al next season.

This guy says he is hearing of trades down.  He sounds really confident.  He's still saying he thinks it'll be Booker, but says if WCS falls we'll be very tempted to pull the trigger.  Wonder how far we'd move down though.  If Boston is still the partner I doubt Booker lasts until 16.  I'd almost guarantee it.

RJ hunter would probably be the likely target in a trade down.  He'd be a good fit here IMO.

I'll be disappointed when we don't end up with Kaminsky or WCS.

WCS is definitely my top non-1 or 2 for us.  I'd have to imagine we'd then have to go after a 3rd PG and a starting caliber SG (Hornets standards wise) in the FA.

    • I mean I just don't understand the argument. Baker and Sam both have been pro bowl QBs post their time here. And you just said yourself that is due to him having a damn good roster around him and they are well coached. You're even saying the bad baker is still there somewhere, but he is in a good organization with good roster and coaching that they are getting the best out of him. Why does Baker and Sam get all that benefit of the doubt but when it comes to Bryce it must be a BY9 problem, not an org or team problem?  Hell I got a guy below you arguing with me that Chark/Hurst/Mingo sucked because Bryce wouldn't throw them open. It's ridiculous how far the stretch goes.
    • Correct.  It’s really hard to get open in the NFL when opposing defenses gameplan and cheat coverage/routes on all your players because they know your QB can’t make certain throws/plays.   magically no one that comes to Carolina can get open or make plays with the ball in their hands…..it’s like there is one singular common dominator to it all.  BY makes playing defense way too easy.   NFL players are too good to allow one side to cheat coverage and not respect all the potential threats of a route  so you can dial up a great play.  But if corners and safeties just cheat coverage and know X and Y happening on route/threats….getting open gets hard when they just play it one way.  Getting open has a lot to do with the different threats a WR can pose on a given play.
    • Kinda depends how you look at it both were 3rd round draft pics.  Nico was nothing before stroud and tank came in with stroud.  If both were on the panthers would young have them doing well and starting or would their stats be low.  I really dont know the answer to that.  None of the panthers wrs have left and did well either but personally i feel neither of nico or tank would do much on the panthers.
