C.J. Wilson apparently lost two fingers

top dawg

You'll have to excuse me if this was posted somewhere, but in light of JPP and July 4th, I think that this is but another reminder that people need to be extremely cautious and safe when it comes to lighting fireworks at home.  I never have, and prefer to go see the professionals.

The Lincoln Times-News in Wilson’s hometown of Lincolnton, North Carolina reports that Wilson lost two fingers in the accident. The report cites sources close to the family and says the incident occurred at home in Lincolnton, with family and close friends present.

It's a bad break for the young man, but at least he is still alive (unlike the young man who decided to light fireworks on his head).  If you still have some fireworks, be safe!

Aside from a malfunction I don't understand how you get hurt with fireworks. I've been "impaired" many times and yet still managed to operate very dangerous fireworks safely. I guess even in my impaired state I recognize the importance of safety. Maybe it's Army training but it always seemed like common sense. Exact same thing with guns. Safety is obvious and always make sure the weapon is clear. Stupid people do stupid things.

Because there's a good bit of people out there who treat them like they're toys, and not what they are... fuging explosives.

I've never understood that mindset of people who do dumb poo with those things like they're harmless.

90% of America could use dynamite safely without incident. Still there is a reason you can't get dynamite and it's the other 10%. I say natural selection should have its way. If a dude is dumb enough to fire off a explosive on top of there head or in there hand then they deserve what they get.

Awwww what am I talking about let's just ban all "bomb like" fireworks. There is no need for them anyway.

When I first heard this I thought it was the pitcher. Then I felt sad because he had always seemed like a very likable guy. Then I heard it was a different C.J. which made me relieved. Then I felt guilty that I was relieved this kid lost two fingers instead of the pitcher.

    • damn I wish somebody would sign him. This has been going on for weeks.    I think if the team wanted to sign him we probably would have heard something about interest on our part.    Or any TE. It looks like they have set that room. And we have taken guys two years running, a guy like this would be blocking them. We need to see if they have it or not. And we should see if Tremble is gonna ever do anything.      In general, with the TEs
    • Dude, there aren’t rose colored glasses big enough for you to call this “not a bad draft.” BC was not a good pick. He was taken with the 6th pick in round 3 and he’s been a backup OL. Tremble also wasn’t a win. Another 3rd rounder who’s easily replaced. Only reason either of them started games is because of injuries or a lack of a better starter. Chuba’s got heart but he’s had one solid year behind a solid run blocking unit. Other than that he’s underwhelmed and like we saw with Dowdle and Foreman, it’s not hard to find cheap pickups who perform as well. Horn has been a good starter but honestly that draft had so many solid starters we could have taken. With as many picks as we had, him and Chuba is absolutely a bad draft. We needed OL and BC and Brown was a terrible effort. You clearly didn’t watch the Senior Bowl if you thought Brown had a chance in the NFL. The huddle draft folks wanted Humphrey and Smith and instead we got crap and Mahomes was the winner.
