Saints release DE Junior Gallette

Now that June 1 has passed, the Saints could cut Galette and keep his 2015 cap number at $5.45 million, with another $12.1 million in dead money counting against next year’s cap.

It’s possible the Saints could try to fight to get some of that money back, especially if Galette is suspended. But it’s not easy for teams to recoup signing bonus money that has already been paid out -- even when there are detrimental-conduct clauses that nullify future guarantees.

That should help. Now if someone can just come up with a video of Cameron Jordan smacking woman around, we should be set against the saints.

Regardless, while he may not be facing Anthony Munoz in his prime, he won't be lining up against a French Canadian in his first game in the United States.

brb going to laugh at saintsreport now.

You won't find any tears there. Most of us have been waiting for this move.

It certainly doesn't make us any better on the football field. Sometimes things are bigger than that though. This guy has proven to be a complete ass since he signed his contract. Good for him. He got his money. Good for the Saints for stepping away.

I'm shocked those clowns did the right thing. I doubt Coach Zoolander and his Fat Elf sidekick D-coordinator are happy about it. I hope Loomis chokes on the dead money next year.

A heavy dose of Vicodin will help ease the pain.

    • After last season, it was the same question. And the answer most people came to was "If he doesn't make the playoffs, he's gone." He made the playoffs. No matter how it was done, we made it to the playoffs. He's safe. He's going to have a chance to keep working this out, even if next season isn't a playoff one.  I think we'll do better next year than we did this season. There's something being built here.
    • The NBA is a very fickle league. Kon is one of the hottest rookies in years and beyond just his play on the court he is a very steady competitor and that translates to the rest of the team. That has been a glaring absence with the culture of this franchise through the bulk of the LaMelo Ball years that's just being completely blunt and realistic. The enigma of LaMelo Ball is he is entering year 6 and still either red hot or ice cold. We need him to find that sweet spot. Logic dictates the Hornets will want to see this core again next year. But the clock is beyond ticking at this point. It's put up or shut up. Especially considering what the Thunder managed to do recently. I'm hopeful they can keep these wins rolling in and get some much needed playoff experience under their belts which will help substantially.
    • I think as long as the Panthers are competitive with Canales they should keep him. Pepper needs to repair his/the teams image as a place prized free agents aren't hesitant to consider. Just dont do any crazy poo for a few years.
