Convince Me Madden 16 is Worth Buying

I almost always buy Madden with each new release just because I need the updated roster info, players, and team info and it doesn't feel right playing a game that is technically 'dated'. At this point, I'm pleased with '15 enough to consider not buying the newest 2016 version when it comes out later this month.

Is it wrong of me to be satisfied with the new roster updates to have the '15 draft class and the player ratings that coincide?  I usually spend August/September running the current Panthers franchise with my minor (realistic) tweaks in FA and offseason moves. Usually, by the time the real team is in the meat of their schedule, I lose interest in the game because my expectations of players don't line up with reality....haha.

I take some time off, and then towards the end of the season, I'll do a fantasy draft and just pick a sick team of random players and roll with that.  My latest team that I put together a month ago with '15 draftees included is pretty nasty and still in season 1.

Is it worth plunking down over $60 bucks this season or is it same 'ol same 'ol EA?

Just based on user speculation and pre-release feedback, it looks as if the main reasons to upgrade are:

1.  The New DB/WR mechanics.

2.  Draft Champions Mode

3.  Roster updates that are usable for online game play (not worth it if you don't play online)

That and a slightly more appealing interface with some smoother animations - just like an expansion.  $60.00 can be a lot for some people, so it's an on the fence issue and will be every year.

I don't play Madden anymore, but when I game I always treat content like it's an investment.

(ie:  I haven't really played WoW since Cataclysm but I am up to date on expansions since I know I will go back to it sooner or later)

The videos and even pictures I've seen haven't convinced me to buy this year.

Wait and buy Fifa 16 instead. It's insane how much better that series is compared to Madden.

I think I might be on this bandwagon too. The eye appeal is incredible for that one...... which is shocking, because it's EA Sports. Go figure!

Thanks for the views and advice guys!

FIFA is the way to go if you want to get seriously invested in a sports game. It's the king of sports games right now, and even 2K is a good bit behind. Actually would be a lot more interested in PES if it wasn't for the licensing issues. Thank goodness for PC mods and Steam sales!

Im gonna get it.

with best buy GCU its only 48 dollars , if you pre order you also get 10 dollars in certificates

and the past few years closer to release date they usually run a trade in program for like 35 dollars off

so after all that its usually only around 15 dollars to upgrade every year

Divide $60 by the number of hours you would expect to play it. Then ask yourself is that a wise entertainment dollar value? I play Madden very differently, it seems, than a lot of people. I play exclusively in Franchise Mode for 30 years. I enjoy drafting and creating a dominant Panthers team for decades. But that takes a lot of time. So my dollar investment value is very small. I get maybe 5 or 6 games every year and it works out pretty good investment and entertainment wise. Seeing as how long most people play games...it's the cheapest form of entertainment out there...besides maybe the Huddle.

I've bought Madden every year for as long as I can remember, but last year was the final straw. I pretty much only played heads-up online, and one of my last games was against the Seahawks. Deangelo Williams fumbled like four times in the span of two quarters. It was just utterly dumb.

Later I bought FIFA 14 and then realized I could play at least two matches in the time it takes to play one Madden game.

Then I realized the gameplay in FIFA is so far superior to Madden it kind of made me angry because before I just assumed "Well it must be hard to make a football game which is why EA can't really get it right". Well the team behind FIFA actually works on their gameplay besides "oh let's make the running back be able to do yada yada yada this year!" or "let's make the cornerbacks better this year!".  Why not improve the entire fugging game instead of gimmicks every single season. It's mind numbing.

    • When a team has EXPECTATIONS you have to show them that your fandom and praise is EARNED.  People would be mad if the they lost two one goal competitive games like 2023 but they wouldn't have gotten booed out of the building because the effort and competitiveness would be there but to lose in THAT fashion at home with your entire top line going free lance and saying fug this yeahhh.
    • Well with back to back road games to open the season again we really can't afford a "slow start" at least not for the psyche of the fanbase that is already at rock bottom from years of losing. I think that will depend on our approach to preseason this go around. But I do agree the makings of a culture change could be big for us. At the same time we heard talk of this last year and then we got the doors blown off multiple times. I can agree with you it's best to try to maintain perspective until we get closer to the midway point of the season. The main things I want to see early on even if we aren't necessarily winning is spark and toughness from the offense and defense and at least keeping games close.
    • First goal hmmm im going with Verhague
