Further indictment against Tolbert

So it seems everyone in Zods youth movement roster projection seem on board with cutting Tolbert and I 100% agree.

Long story short,he had 37 carries for 78 yards (o tds). 12 receptions for for 93 yards and 0 TD'S.

Also Tolbert is the one player we can cut and see over 2 Million in cap savings immediately. I listed 3 play by play examples before he went down with injury. The rest I show how he did rushing vs what our other backs did.  Sorry Tolbert, time for you to go.

Lets go back and see what he did last year. This is against Tampa week 1.

Tolbert had 7 rushes for 11 yards. Deangelo had 14 for 72 against the same D. 9 for 20 for Stewart.

i think he's expendable too, but let's not ignore extenuating circumstances. i think he'll bounce back and have a decent year when he's not constantly having to stay in and block every time he gets on the field.

1. His first 3 games which I highlighted his play by play he was fine. The rest are after he 2 months to heal from injury.

2. Other backs on the roster, as shown above played behind the same horrid o-line.

3. Well not exactly. Williams or Stewart rarely saw the field on the same gameday. As a matter of a fact Williams only had 25 more carries than Tolbert and managed over 141 more yards than Tolbert.

Yea they use him to get first downs on short to go and TD's. He managed 4 first downs and 0 TD's. He's not doing what he was brought in for and did his first 2 years.

I'm on the fence about getting rid of Tolbert this year, I won't lose sleep one way or another. 

Having said that, one thing missing from many of these posts about Tolbert's YPC is context. Tolbert is a short yardage specialist. His YPC isn't going to be high. It'd be more beneficial to see game film and see how he's blocking compared to how well he's rushing.

I really like Tolbert but I agree he's expendable as well. What made Tolbert special was his ability to run people over (Eric Reid and the Falcons game in ATL in 2013 immediately come to mind). Tolbert talked about losing weight last offseason and it hurt his style of play. Tolbert will never be that elusive, quick back so by him losing weight he isn't doing himself any favors on the field. It's too bad, because I really like him.

He missed most of the year and our oline was terrible. Just watch the plays, there was nothing he could do. If the oline gets no push and doesnt create gaps you really cant expect him to do anything at all.

Believe me, after seeing that game Saturday night, I would probably not only flip the script on Tolbert, but much more of the fat.
