Wow.

#Panthers will use short-term IR designation on undrafted DE Arthur Miley, per source. Miley to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery.

1) I didn't know Miley was injured.

2) Using the short-term IR option on a rookie UDFA.  Big surprise.

Only one player can get that designation. Shows how high they are on him.

Seems like we are in a lull--

We had a good defense last year, especially toward the end.  What did we lose?

Now we have Marlowe, Miley, possibly Cox--all undrafted free agents---competing for roster spots. We found Coleman.  On offense, we found guys like Simonson, Wegher, and plucked players from the bottoms of teams rosters like Todman.

Gettlemen and the scouting department deserve an A+ again this year.

I am too, but I also don't think James Jones is very good.

I haven't seen a ton of film on him, though I'm generally familiar with him. Can you elaborate a bit?

I just find it odd that a guy who has managed at least 600 yards/3 TD's the last 5 consecutive seasons isn't at least worth a look.

We usually keep 5 DEs, which is kinda sparse right now given Alexander and now Miley's injuries.

CJ, Ealy, Addison...Horton I guess. Cox may make it.

I am guessing that we could go with 4 knowing that help is on the way--depends on other positions and how much they can afford that luxury.  This is interesting.

Already keeping Wegher. Voth just tweeted saying it looks like we could be keeping Todman and Fozzy. If that's true, something crazy could go down with Stewart or Tolbert.

Great point about Tolbert.  I still don't thing we keep 5.  As I said to KB, this is VERY interesting.

    • It's not just a talent issue it's not just a scheme issue it's not just a playcalling issue it's not just a coaching issue. When you observe players basically going through the motions it says they don't believe in what they're doing and if they don't believe in what they're doing you evaluate every moving part and reassess. But you can't evaluate every moving part if the engine at the center does not possess the necessary abilitu for you to open up the entire field and keep the defense honest. What you see now is three years of trying to build a system around this QB. And the only reason guys like TMac looked the way he did early on is because he is the newest part to the system. Only 4 games in and even he is starting to have the same body language. All this other rabble about what Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield are doing as if they are both very short and possess limited at best physica talent is just cope.
    • “I wanna see Canales with another QB” as if a new QB will fix all of this haha   welp… lets gear up for ruining another QB boyz
