No excuse for losing this game.  We have built this team from the ground up and have LOADS of experience on this team. Losing to Jax would put Ron right back on the hot seat IMO.

no way I can ever see gettleman firing Ron, unless big cat forced him. Ron is a genuine good guy and that's what helps him. You have to remember Getts came from NY where everyone wanted coughlin fired, they didn't and won a super bowl. It would take us winning 4 games for at least two seasons before something like that happened.

If we are truly wanting to be a playoff contention team, then we cannot lose to the Jags, Texans, or Bucs in the next 4 weeks. If we go anything under 3-1 (hell there is no reason to NOT go 4-0, but Saints always play us hard) before the bye, then Ron should very well be on the hot seat. If Chuck Pagano (who is 33-15 n three seasons, along with two divisional championships) is on the hot seat this season, then Ron sure as hell better be too if we get off to another slow start.

Its highly unlikely that one game would ever put a coach on the hot seat with Gettleman.  If we start out poorly again this year, and are under 500 at the midpoint of the season, Ron might then be on the hot seat.  If we finish under 500 again, he might be on the hot seat.  Losing one game will not, regardless of who the opponent is.

      I think his stats will depend on the development of the rookies and sophomore receivers, which isn't totally under is control. The eye test is a different story. Has to consistently look the part before you decide to pay him Purdy money.

      Interestingly I think we have kind of of gone through this as an organization. Richardson implemented an FO driven tank. Bad roster, no cash spent, coach uninterested. It may have been for different reasons but I think the results were the same. A team that wasn't going to win many if any games. We ended up with the #1 pick. Cam Newton came in and changed the franchise. It worked, but Cam himself pointed to the losing culture in the locker room needing to be changed. It probably took about 2-3 years for that to happen. Tank worked pretty damn well for us. Cam is one of one. Not another like him, everyone can't deliver on his draft status AND change a culture basically on his own.  So as an exercise here are the last 30 #1 picks. If you tanked and got to pick #1 how many of these guys do you think were worth it? Not just good players, but franchise changers. Guys who will take your culture and shift it so the tank was actually worth it.
