I don't have the slightest clue why Bersin didn't make the roster. He had the most sure hands of any WR in the preseason. He had a better season last year then Norwood (and knows the playbook, as well), and surely could match the very little Philly did last week. He doesn't drop many passes and isn't as slow as he is made out to be. He'd be a nice compliment to Cotchery and Funchess. The only reason Bersin catches so much poo is because people just assume he is only on the team because he one of the owner's favorites, and not because he can, unlike half our WRs, actually catch the ball.

I think they believed Philly would get over his slump.

But he only had one catch I can recall last game, and today's practice news isn't encouraging either.

Also on that note he is not under any more pressure to return punts which is important for our and his sanity.

Brown didnt have any drops so Im not sure what this is about. Ginn on the otherhand had 2. Im not in favor of making changes based on 1 game. I am in favor of seeing more Funchess and Norwood.

I think most people are looking at this based on everything since training camp, including recent practices. Not just game 1.

let's give Philly some more time guys, I trust Bersin's hands but have no idea if he consistently would be able to get open

here is an idea....how about don't put either Philly or Bersin on the field.

Get Funchess and Norwood on the field.  Sprinkle in some Ginn speed in some packages.  Rotate Cotchery in with them to give them breaks.

and most importantly, run legit two TE sets and if Brandon Williams can't do it...then quit having him make the roster.  He is a physical freak that we keep bringing back and never use.

    • PJ's completion % was 63% when starting games in Carolina.  Which I believe is better than Bryce when starting.  And again, 4-3 as the starter here and the LONE QB Carolina has been able to actually win with in the Tepper era.  If you ask a gambling gunslinger to come into blowouts.....they are going to go down in a blaze of glory.  Which he would do.  Yeah, he isn't good.  And gunslingers are supposed to have rockier stats than checkdown QBs.   So....why does PJ Walker have a better comp % as a starter than Bryce Young.  And for every knock you want to make about PJ, you can find something or a skillset that PJ does better than Bryce.   I didn't say PJ had good field vision.  He doesn't.  Tell me about Bryce after he comes off the first read lol.  Let me repeat, PJ Walker is not a good QB.  He is NFL depth and an in house arm.  Bryce Young doesn't belong in a convo w/ Jake and Cam.  He belongs closer in a convo with the backup caliber QBs Carolina was forced into playing.  Which isn't just PJ Walker.  But Kyle Allen.  Moore.  Guys like that.
    • Oh I see what you meant by memory. I will trust my memory, I have looked a a lot of those ball charts for Bryce and they trend a general pattern. They thing that has changed that I have noticed more recently is the reduction in the bunching of behind or at  the LOS passes over to his right.  Aside from the quantity of throws recently since the running game has become a more dominant factor.
    • Yes but you basically said you are going from a quick skim of those charts without doing the same for Bryce and/or Andy. So you are going memory vs. snapshots. That's not going to be a very comprehensive analysis.
