2. Carolina Panthers (22nd)

Pass blocking rank: 5th

Run blocking rank: 6th

Penalties rank: 1st

Stud: The leader of a young and inexperienced line, Ryan Kalil (+6.6) seems to have grown as a player. He’s our top-ranked center right now.

Dud: No surprise that Michael Oher (-9.9) has struggled. It’s not all bad news, though, because he’s been far from terrible in pass protection.

Summary: The Panthers’ have shown remarkable turnaround from 2014, one of which the coaches and scouting staff can feel particularly smug. The team has a 2014 third-rounder (Trai Turner), a 2014 undrafted free agent (Andrew Norwell), and a 2012 undrafted free agent (Mike Remmers) all playing exceptionally well.

Falcons ranked first..

Not something any of us would have predicted at the start of the season!  (Not so much that we wouldn't have predicted a big improvement in our line... but to have both the improvement and to have it recognized... that's pretty amazing!)

    • Would absolutely love to have him. I dont think he would require more than a 5th rounder. The biggest thing with his contract is the amount of guaranteed money. As long as they can work out and scenario where the Panthers aren't on the hook for a lot of that, I think it's a no-brainer. The Panthers can come up with $20M at the drop of a hat with restructuring Moton's contract, so there definitely isn't an issue from a money perspective. Jaycee paired with Ramsey along with Mike Jack would give us one of the best CB groups in the league. The one caveat I see is that safety still remains our biggest current weakness. We need a starting caliber S more than CB, simply put. But adding someone like Ramsey would be amazing as long as the compensation made sense. Ramsey could also play for FS snaps also. I also dont understand this nonsense about being seasons away. We have a QB on a rookie deal who was playing at an elite level to end last season. Within reason, now is absolutely the time to make moves like trading for Ramsey.
    • He'd be a huge upgrade for this year, but we're still not going to be contenders with him and I'd rather keep the cap space to roll into next season to spend on a younger player who can be an impact starter for us for the next 3-5 years while we're hoping to contend.
    • Because playoff hockey and regular season hockey aren’t the same thing.  It’s a combination of the game intensity being dialed up with loose officiating.
