How do you guys feel when an announcer says insert fan base here travels well?

Last week while watching the Packers vs 9ers game, all I heard from Aikman and Buck while you hear chants of "Go Pack Go" in Levi stadium is that the Packers fans travel well.

So, you mean to tell me all those people traveled from Wisconsin to California?  Uh, what?

Just wondering if this captures anybody attention but mine?

Might just be in my head, but I've always felt that statement as being a little tongue-in-cheek. They know that people from Pittsburgh aren't flying all over the country for games, yet there are always Steeler fans everywhere.

"They must 'travel well'" *wink wink* *cough* BANDWAGON *cough*

I think that you will notice that teams with lots of recent wins, and/or National Titles or SB's will always "travel well".

Most of them arrive via bandwagon.

This is true, but there are still a handful of franchises that just have a large fanbase due to prolonged success and "Dynasty" years.

Dallas, GB, Pittsburgh, and more recently, NE come to mind. You will find more of those fans than any other team due to the "prestige" and history associated with the franchises. They are (excluding Dallas) perennial playoff teams and well run organizations (again excluding Dallas).

Dallas fans are just mouth breathers that don't realize how shittily run their franchise truly is. And they're stupid. But I will say, they are loyal.

Yup. Chicago would be an example of a team that just has loyalty in recent years.

That "travel well" line is bullsh*t.  The Seahawks are a perfect example.  They played here last year and there were quite a few of those clowns walking around in crisp new 12 and Wilson jerseys.  The only place those morons traveled was to a computer so they could log into Amazon.com and buy a Hawks jersey.  "Travel Well" is the PC term for "fuging weak kneed flip flopping bandwagon asshole".

    • I think we pick it up and then someone else ends up emerging as the QB next year and we end up cutting him in year 5 and eating it.  That would be the most on brand thing to happen.
    • Evero has his faults, but even in that loss, the team only gave up 20 points. Your post gets to the heart of the matter. We are not a talented team on defense at this time. Some of our younger guys may develop w/more playing time, but for now we have no impact players at LB or EDGE. We could really use a ball-hawking S on the back end as well. We have exactly two players that have to be accounted for on every play, D. Brown, and J.Horn. Mike Jackson has been solid. The other starters would probably be backups on most the upper echelon NFL teams. We really can't expect this team to a Top 10 defense with such a lack of talent. All things considered I've been somewhat impressed with how much better they have played this year.   https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/opponent-points-per-game   https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/opponent-average-team-passer-rating We are in the top 15 in terms of points allowed per game (22.6) and top 12 in defensive passer rating (88.9). And, we are doing this without a formidable PASS RUSH. Even our rushing defense has improved. We are #16 in rushing yards allowed per game (116) compared to 179 per game last season. https://www.teamrankings.com/nfl/stat/opponent-rushing-yards-per-game I wouldn't cry if Evero moved on after the season, but his defense isn't the biggest worry for our team.
