Making the Leap: Josh Norman

Found a really good article on how Josh Norman became the elite corner he is today. Very interesting on how much time and effort we put in making sure he would succeed. Molding late round draw picks is the key to being a consistent contender. I'm very happy this situation with Josh worked out. Im sure at one point or another we all thought it wouldn't. Hope Josh is here to stay, after reading this I don't think money will get in the way.

Great article. I too dont believe keeping Norman here in Carolina will be an issue. There is too much of a connection for him here. He loves it here. #Paythatman, but he'll be very reasonable. and gettleman has shown he isnt afraid to pay his cornerstone players.

something else that stood out to me:

Panthers owner Jerry Richardson got involved, serving as a mentor. The 79-year-old former NFL wide receiver invited Norman to his house. Their conversations ran the gamut from cornerback technique to life lessons.

"Mr. Richardson, he was big on what I could do and kept pushing me," Norman said. "He became my personal coach. He coaches me up, gives me pointers. When your owner is your personal coach, you never want to let that guy down. You want to push yourself to the extreme."

wasnt there another fiery skill-position player that Richardson took under his wing that was loyal to the franchise and became synonymous with the Carolina Panthers? methinks there was. and this bodes well. i did not know that Big Cat had taken such an interest and become so involved with Josh. And it encourages me more to know that Josh is only like Agent 89 in that he is fiery on the football field. off the field, he is a really cool dude. i never heard that about Smith.

This kind of worries me

Josh Norman: "I've got a goal and I can't reach my goal without being thrown to."

If I'm opposing teams, I'm using double moves and pump fakes on Josh to see if he is going to try and jump the route. See if he gets greedy. Not all QB's and WR's are good enough to take advantage of that but you can bet someone like Rodgers is. Hopefully that quote makes its way in front of the coaches and captains and they talk with him about it.

    • Jalen Carter came into camp out of shape too. That was part of the reason he dropped considering he was thought of as the better defensive player pre-draft activities. It’s not a good sign when you don’t look great but it’s definitely premature.
    • We won 5 with the worst defense in the history of defenses.  I think free agency and our draft puts us over 6.5.
    • Leaning towards just ordering this tonight, but now I have no idea on size. Has anyone bought a bunch of jerseys in the last few years and can convey how the Game vs Limited vs Reebok versions all fit? These are both Mediums... The white one here is a Reebok one from 2010, and was when they had the "+2 length" on the tag and it was the version with the stitched numbers instead of iron on... the blue one is from 2022 and is the F.U.S.E Limited version also with stitched stuff, not the "game jersey" with the ironed on numbers/letters that they have the T-Mac jerseys in. The old one fits me fine, the blue one was always a tad snug on me, particularly in the shoulders I'm leaning going with a Large based on the CMC, but for all I know, that is made with a tighter cut due to the higher "limited" level and the "game" ones they have for T-Mac are cut more like a T-Shirt and thus will fit more like the old white one I have here, not sure. (and yes, I already tried going to a sporting goods store here to hopefully try on a Lions jersey to see, but they don't have any right now)
