Impossible trades and pipe dreams

All this talk of trades for a big name WR or OT are not going to happen. First of all, you should know by now that is not Getts M.O. This team is built on guts,  team attitude, and having each others back. They have gotten this far by that formula and I don't see them adding any pieces unless injury forces the issue. They sink or swim with what they have. Doubt they break the chemistry that has developed on the field and in the locker room.

You go to war with what you have and pull together to get the job done. **All this trade talk is just talk

**to all the talking heads in the sports media.

Was Jared Allen not a big name DE that we traded for this season? Truth is we really have no idea what Gettleman's MO is. Every time someone says Gettleman would never do something like that, he turns around and disproves it. We thought he loved draft picks and was just happy to sit back and take BPA then he goes and makes two big trades in the draft to get guys with draft picks(Funchess, Williams) then two more in the season(Norwood, Allen). He won't trade for a one year rental of an aging vet? Here comes Jared Allen. He hasn't been a GM long enough for us to really have a good handle on what he will do. No one thinks he will go out and sign a free agent to a big contract, but he hasn't had the chance yet due to cap restrictions. He could very well go out this year and land a big fish now that we have some room.

Allen is an older vet with a little tread left on the tires ( for a 6th round pick). DG went looking once Addison got injured and we where thin ar DE. A lot different then going after C.J for a high draft pick and salary to go with it. Just don't see D.G ever taking that jump.

We need to make a trade?! We are "in danger?" Who are you talking to right now?! Who is it that you think you see?! Do you know what our record is?! Even if I told you, you wouldn't begin to believe me. Our no 1 WR goes down and you think we are in danger and need to make a trade?! We are not in danger Skylar, we are the danger. We are the team that knocks!

Just because it is a rainy crappy day I am going to respond to this oopsy. Gman got Allen three weeks ago. Addison got hurt last week. Sooo....your assertion is flawed. That is all I got.

We got Allen after CJ was hurt, I believe.

True...but if it was when C.J was put on I.R/designated to return, then it is no longer flawed. We traded due to injuries at D.E....regardless of whom it may have been.

Soooo because your premise was right, even thought your facts we wrong, you are right? Mmm OK. Don't take this the wrong way, but the wife always says. "Listen to what I mean, not to what I say." So, I am used to this convoluted logic.

Not a matter of right or wrong.  My premise was that DG doesn't do these kind of deals that cost high draft picks or saddle the team with high salaries. I doubt with contracts coming up that he will do so in the future. He seems to prefer to pay the guys we have who produce. So your right about it being C.J and not Addison that produced the trade. Trade was due to injury at DE and nothing else.

Would he have traded for him if C.J was healthy and playing?

    • Here is what it said about him coming out of college: Overview A three-year starter with good feet and technique, Samac could be in consideration for a move-blocking rushing attack. He is strong at the point of attack but will have limitations against NFL power. He operates with good hand placement and nimble feet and is a demon once he’s on the move as a pulling center leading the way. He’s fluid and agile in the run game, but those traits fail to do as much for him in protection. Samac punches with inside hands but can struggle to widen his protection base in order to protect his edges. He has eventual starting talent as a run blocker but needs to add more mass and improve in pass protection to get there.
    • Through 2 games cltfc has 12 shot attempts. Opponents 23 shots on target. Attack sucks, Defense definitely sucks. Kahlina is the only reason they haven't given up 14 goals in two games.
    • I met a few times--never liked him. I figured he might have had a bad day--but then realized that he must have a lot of bad days. Once he raised his voice at my son because my son did not understand a question when SS was signing his jersey.  I wanted the jersey to represent his encounter with a Panther great, not some small man with a bad attitude.  I told me son, "Forget it.  He was asking you what your name is (My son was about 7 and told me that he thought Smitty was going to write (my son's) name on the jersey.  He said "Dad, I thought he was supposed to write HIS name on the jersey, not mine."  I said, "He was personalizing it, writing it to you--like a birthday card."  He is now grown, and he has a steve smith Jersey that is framed and matted.  He keeps it is his closet.  I asked him, "Why not have that out on your wall?"  He said, "All I remember is an A-hole scribbled on my shirt.  I don't remember a legend or hero.  But he had a Jake Delhomme Jersey on his wall.  "Jake was great.  I will always remember that."  (Jake stayed and talked to us for about 5 minutes or more--GREAT guy.)
