Chud new OC of Colts

Chud isn't an bad OC. Pep isn't a bad OC. Vertical, big play offenses work. Look at teams like the Steelers.

But Chuds offense will struggle in Indy. For the same reason his offense struggled in Carolina: poo online play.

Chud isn't a bad guy. But our offense was great in Cams rookie season for a lot of reasons (Our defense was putrid, lockout affecting defenses as a whole, two TE sets took a lot of pressure off of Steve, Lack of footage on Cam, etc), towards the end of that year, the offense sputtered a bit. He's not the genius everyone claims to be, but he's not as poo as he was in 2012. He's creative and smart, and he can do great in the right system. But lack of situational offenses, and the Colts o-line being garbage, it's gonna be much of the same.

Why did I type so much.

Schematically he is. But he gets caught up in his own genius. Situationally he was terrible for us. This long winded routes with shotty oline play that everyone bitched about with Hamilton? Chud did that with the read option and was so hard headed he didn't change until the season was already lost for us in 2012.

Maybe some time away will help him idk. It will be interesting to see what he does with the talent they have.

Our offense was awesome with multiple tight ends when we had Shockey and Olsen.  He has so many weapons at his disposal in Indy

Because they ran a bunch of quick passing plays and Hasselbeck is a better QB for what Indy needs its QB to do.

Isn't this what helps or makes many great offenses? Look at Brady and Manning. They are known for getting the ball out fast.

You can't expect OLs to block for 4+ seconds. You need to be getting the ball out in 3 seconds or so. Then when the D commits short you can hit them deep a few times.

Really wish we ran quick passing plays more often.

On a positive note, I am finally seeing Cam throw those simple easy slant routes.

It definitely helps, but for whatever reason with Luck they ran more intermediate to deep routes and with that bad oline it makes no sense why Indy didn't stick with the quicker passing game that helped them win 2 games and make a game out of it on Monday.

I don't know why they haven't stuck with it.

unless a team has some ungodly OL giving 5+ seconds every drop back every team should use a short quick passing offense.

and honestly what team has an OL like that? wonder how many seconds the cowboys or cleveland give on drop backs

I don't understand all the hate for Chud, we had a top 5 offense Cams rookie year with our only good receiver being Steve Smith. Sure he tried to get to cute sometimes but you don't have a top 5 offense with a rookie quarterback without the offensive coordinator being at least decent. No matter how stacked your team is.

we have a top 5 offense now with no receivers as good as smith, and everyone hates Shula.
