Can we keep the band together for 2016?

I have been thinking about the future of the team, and I know a few names have been thrown around as possible cuts for next year, but now I'm wondering if they have since proved themselves as too valuable to let go. I'm thinking of Stewart, Tolbert, CJ, and J Allen. I personally would love to see all 4 come back next year based on how they have performed this year (when healthy), but can we afford to keep them all with our cap situation?

I would appreciate your thoughts, huddlers.

if DG had made the big FA deals that some wanted, then there would be no chance. Only so much coin to go around. Spend it on the guys that have made us 7-0. If they can restructure a few, then they can keep more than they lose.

You seem to think our cap will be a problem next year. Why is that?

For one, Jared Allen's $11 million cap hit will be on our books instead of Chicago's. We can also anticipate Norman's hit to be much higher next year as well, leaving less room for the large contracts of JA, CJ and Stew. I'm sure nippleshorts has a plan for all this, I'm just wondering if those 4 vets are in the plan.

You're working with wrong numbers and info. We will NOT be over the cap next year even with Jared's $8.5 million contract. We have $16.5 million in cap space WITH Jared, CJ, Stewie, and Kalil not having their contracts re-done.

Btw, that doesn't take into account the extra cap we'll rollover from this year. About $4.5 million right now if we don't make any more roster moves. Yes, the $16.5 million figure does assume the cap goes up from $144 million this year to $150 million next year, but it did go up more from last year to this year, and the NFL isn't losing money.

So, short answer, they're probably coming back next year even with Josh's blockbuster deal.

As to the topic, yeah there will be some turnover, and chances are that we will lose somebody we would prefer to keep (no way to know who). That happens in the NFL on an annual basis.

The hope is always that the overall result is at least equal or improved over the previous year.

The two most important players on the team are signed long term, so that helps. There are definitely other teams who would like to be in that position.

    • Wide Receiver: Tetairoa McMillan, Carolina Panthers – 85.3 One of the more shocking developments of the 2025 NFL season has been the Carolina Panthers’ ascension to the top of the NFC South, which they achieved with Sunday’s win over the Buccaneers. Perhaps nobody has made a bigger difference than former eighth overall pick Tetairoa McMillan, who continued to be a steady presence in the Panthers’ offense. McMillan caught six passes for 73 yards and a touchdown in the win Tight End: Mitchell Evans, Carolina Panthers – 91.1 Evans only saw the field for 16 snaps, but he was efficient in his limited playing time. He caught all three of his targets for 23 yards on just six receiving snaps while also grading well in pass protection (72.2 grade) and as a run-blocker (68.4) Edge Defender: Nic Scourton, Carolina Panthers – 77.9 The former second-rounder out of Texas A&M has been a force along the Panthers’ defensive line, and he was a key contributor in Carolina’s huge win over the Buccaneers. Scourton recorded two stops as a run-defender and added another while in coverage. Scourton also tallied his sixth sack of the year while contributing another pressure to the mix Safety: Lathan Ransom, Carolina Panthers – 75.7 Another Carolina Panther on this week’s list, Ransom has typically been stronger in run defense — he carries an 85.2 grade in that field on the season. But Sunday against the Buccaneers was his best day in coverage. Ransom intercepted his only target, which wound up being the game-winner that put the Panthers in the driver’s seat in the NFC South
