Prevent Mode: Dear Ron Rivera...

Honestly they have been blitzing the poo out of teams the last two weeks....we aren't all that great at it but it has worked pretty well on occasion.

It honestly does look like they are getting tired even when we win the ToP battle...doods need to run more.

When I say "Prevent Mode" I'm not talking about the defensive side of the ball. When your whole approach to offense changes from what's working just because you're ahead, you stop pounding.

Dude.....we didn't play any semblance of "prevent" today.

none what so ever.

We changed our approach because they changed their approach.  It would have been dumb to not do so.  We started blitzing more because our defensive line started having trouble getting to Rogers.  We were being extremely aggressive, perhaps to much so.   We were playing with more db's, but you  have to do that when the offense is throwing on virtually every down.

Yea, I wouldn't say we went into prevent mode. In fact, I don't think we did really.

What happened, was because of our defense's inability to stop the Packers...not even making the Packers have long drives and burn clock/TOs, or offense was suddenly put in a position that if felt it NEEDED to score or at least move the ball.

That is not our team. We were BUILT on defense. It is up to that UNIT to not put our offense in bad spots where they feel as though they HAVE to score because you can't get off the field.

Given our lack of talent on offense...that is asking way too much of them. Our "elite" defense should be able to hold 23 point 4th quarter leads without the offense feeling threatened.

...Just seems when we have to put our foot on someones neck we let up at the most inopportune time..A missed first down here and there at the wrong time swings sht to the wrong side of town..we thumped their azz and it was a nail biter..drives me crazy. hell of a win on a short week..

    • Outside of cerrato, I do like our draft overall. Hard to get can't miss draft picks when you pick late in the draft
    • Very True--and I am a former HS English teacher.
    • Not a Moore fan-but he had a few good games last year-but I want players that scare you--Renfrow's route running and intelligence, Legette's size, speed, and strength, AT's intelligence and route running, Coker's body control, strong hands, and abilty to win contested catches, and TMac's size, body control, and ability to find soft spots in zone coverages.  Horn gives them the ability to stretch the field and he plays special teams.   Moore has a nice smile and can dance.  He filled in well last season, but to get better as a team, you have to upgrade your players.  I think Moore is a bottom of the roster guy who got bumped when we drafted 2 WRs and signed a legit free agent.  Here is the thing--TMac makes us better because he is great against the zone--man?  Good luck with that.  AT's role can be reduced, and that is probably a good thing.  He can specialize in situational football. Coker?  Just getting started. XL?  Just getting started.  Drafting TMac was probably a bit of a wake up call, but XL will be better as the 2. Renfrow?  I see him splitting reps with AT--keeping both fresh and giving different looks. Horn?  Watch the safety cheat his side when he is in the game--I see a young Steve Smith type in him, but he has yet to play a game.  I hear that Morgan loves him.
