Does being undefeated make you more nervous?

I'm fine with home field advantage.  Finally having a good team capable of winning brings me a sense of calm.  Even in Cam's early years, I was nervous to watch games for fear of how they may turn out.  Not so much anymore.  We're good, we got this and if we lose, we'll get better.

If anything I'm less nervous, (well, apart from during the game when it's the total opposite) it's nice being in a situation where the game ahead isn't a must win one. Although thankfully Rivera isn't telling the players that. This doesn't strike me as a team that would fall to bits as soon as there was a 1 in the L column.

Going 16-0 + 3-0 would be special, but at the same time there have been really good teams that have gone to the play-offs with 2, 3 or even 4 losses. Clinching home field is going to be more important than going undefeated, one is an advantage the other is only a legacy.

If we clinch the 1-seed before we suffer a loss I would want us to play to win whatever lame-duck games we have to close the season, especially if the Patriots are still undefeated as well. If the Panthers and Patriots meet in the Super Bowl both at 18-0, none of the pressure will be on Carolina.

However if we slip up and lose at New Orleans or to Atlanta it would sting a lot, but would not be the end of the world. But then we'd likely rest our starts for most of the Tampa Bay game.

I've gone back and forth on this and can understand how the different views on and undefeated season can work.

Would I like to have an undefeated season? Yep. BUT only if it leads to a Super Bowl.  Being undefeated in the regular season is nice, but the goal is to win the Super Bowl. You can't win any game other than the one you're playing.

I believe our guys are a special breed.  They've been able to break a whole season down into quarters (4 games) to weeks to halves to quarters to individual plays.  I believe they're THAT focused. One play at a time. Next play. It takes commitment and humility to play that way, but they're proving that it's possible. Do I think we need a loss? No. Am I going to be upset if they lose? Yeah, I am, but I, like our team will focus on the next opponent. Next play. Next game. Keep Pounding.

I don't think there's a need to be nervous. This team has experienced devastating losses before I think they've been carrying that with them all year. Thus part of the reason we are undefeated.

Everybody wants to be undefeated and be perfect. Yes I am a little nervous. But each week this team has come up with a way to win. It's time to start believing that this is a great team.

Not only am I not more nervous, I'm more excited each week. Not because I'm thinking about going undefeated. Just enjoying the fact that we have a really good football team, so every game is a blast to watch.

Like the team, I can honestly say it is a one-game at a time thing. I don't care about Dallas, and don't know who we play after that without looking it up.

Anything beyond this Sunday is not relevant. We can worry about the next opponent about 8:00PM Sunday night.
