Week 11 - Who to Root For

Someone used to make this thread weekly. I hope this makes sense because it is 2:00 a.m. and I have had a lot of Vodka.

Dallas vs Miami
Dolphins -  AFC over NFC &  pretty much eliminate the Cowboys from the playoffs,  removing incentive for them to beat us next week

Denver vs Chicago
Broncos, AFC over NFC

Indianapolis vs Atlanta
Colts,  AFC over NFC plus handing our division rivals another loss,  giving us a four game division lead,  assuming we beat the Redskins

New York Jets vs Houston
Texans,  increases our strength of schedule,  in case of tie breaker

Oakland vs Detroit
Raiders,  AFC over NFC

St. Louis vs Baltimore
Ravens,  AFC over NFC

Tampa Bay vs Philadelphia
Eagles,  loss for division rival and increase strength of schedule

Washington vs Carolina
Panthers,  duh

Kansas City vs San Diego
Pick em

Green Bay vs Minnesota
Packers,  strength of schedule & increase lead over Vikings for home field advantage

San Francisco vs Seattle
49ers, clinch home field vs Seattle in playoffs,  assuming we beat Redskins

Cincinnati vs Arizona
Bengals, AFC over NFC and increase lead over Arizona for home field in playoffs

Buffalo vs New England
Bills,  because Patriots

Sounds crazy I know, but I'm pulling for Chicago and Minnesota, and to tell you the truth it's not even close.

By pulling FOR Chicago, I'm in actuality pulling AGAINST Atlanta, Seattle, and Green Bay.  IF the Bears could pull of that miracle and actually oust one or more of those teams, how sweet that would be.

Would we rather face Aaron Rodgers in a rematch or toothpick Teddy Bridgewater in January?  I rest my case.  Bury the Pack NOW while they're reeling and God willing they'll be in the ash heap with the Falcons and Seahawks by the time we kick off at BOA in the divisional round.

Minnesota has a TOUGH second half slate.  As does Arizona by the way.  Pulling against Green Bay makes more sense.

Been thinking it for two weeks... Minny, ATL, AZ, and GB all have tough schedules over the last 7 games. Wouldn't surprise me if we clinch home field by the 2nd week of December if we keep winning.

Agree.  One game at a time, but I dream very realistically of walking out of BOA after whipping the Falcons @$$ on Dec 13 with home field wrapped up.

If the Panthers win their next 3 games (12-0).  (Redskins, @Cowboys, and @Saints) and the Falcons lose 2 of their next 3 (7-5) (Colts, Vikings, @Bucs) the Panthers could seal the division in week 13.

Seems pretty likely to me honestly.

Seattle over San Fran makes more sense. Increases our SOS and lowers the Falcons. The Seahawks are really not threat to us at this point.

Unless we completely lay an egg the rest of the season only games of any consequence to us are.

Seahawks over Niners for to increase our SOS and lower that of the Falcons.

Packers over Vikings same exact reason as above.

Bengals over Cardinals for obvious reasons.

Colts over Falcons for obvious reasons.

The Seahawks need to DIE.  Until they are completely eliminated they could be a threat.  We want them to implode!!!  No Panther fan should root for those turds!!!

From a mathematical standpoint there's no arguing against the Seahawks over the Niners.

Conference record is the 2nd tiebreaker after head to head, so there's no scenario where schedule strength it makes a hill of beans at this point since other teams have AFC losses and we won't.

    • I'll toss my 2 pennies(rip) into this. I was not a fan of the Dan hire, I'd say 80against/20meh. The right hand stuff and being a part of what I viewed as the sorriest panther team in history...... The deal is some of the first moves he did saved NOTHING in cap space. He waived Bozeman, Vonn Bell, and Hurst.....That to me doesn't feel like Firererererere was listening to Dan to a high degree. Dan didn't have a 1st rounder which was 1st overall due to the supreme suckage. He didn't have 2nd rounder this past year which was a early pick right where the talent of the 2025 was. Plus the cap was not in the best shape.... The QB deal was in deep water as well. If you factor this extreme mess and analyze the current OL, DL, WR, and RB groups..... I have. Use your normal realistic cues. Even without playing the first game of this season, you must see improvement, right?? He simply could not fix all the problems, but the problems he choose to tackle... He did so like it was the 2003 Superbowl all over again. Factor in depth and age, those groups check the difficult boxes. Most of the players are young, locked in contracts, and there *should* be depth behind the starters. He's not going to bat 1.000, his mistakes have been pointed out numerous times. IMO, he does need some props for what I feel he's done right. Trade wise he's been killing the value side- extra future 2nd, starter level CB that's 28 year old for 240 picked LB that's bounced around the league, and moved up without giving the classic herniay future picks to land two edges whom are only behind QBs on the most valued chart. He also got a early 2nd and 2 5ths for a 8 sack-a-year edge that got nearly 30 mill per.  Sure its got to play out and positive results are needed. Still if you know NFL and been watching since the herniay&gettlegut eras, you got to feel the process is on the up and up. Im not talking in typical off-season hopuim fluff either.... It's not over by any means either(please give him until the 2026 season end), maybe this is a real foundation in the making, us Panthers don't even know what that is...... This could be the first real long lasting winner than us fans have never had in 30 years and we are witnessing it....
    • I feel like we have some depth; we just need that proven nickel. Mike Jackson is a decent #2, but ideally we'd have a proven veteran in the slot. Smith-Wade might be able to fill that role, but he's far from a sure thing.
    • Todd mcshay is doing a deep dive each week on the top propects.  Although he likes manning as a top guy he doesnt think he is coming out but he absolutey raves about Cade, Sellers and Garrett n.   Cade is the jack of all trades, does everything kindof well, Garrett is the big game hunter that has pin point accuracy, and sellers is the wildcard, the tools and arm is simply off the chart.  So adding in Manning and allar this class has unreal potential
