Benwikere talks about Norman

If Bene is implying that Norman was in a mindset that did not allow him to do his job, then that is BS. At the end of the day, you have a job to do and you get paid for it. Win or lose, I think there is no excuse for not giving it 100%.

Just call a spade a spade. You had a bad day, you got beat. Julio had a great game. Falcons came to play and we thought we were gonna walk in there and blow them out. I am 100% sure we will get better as a result of this loss, but it starts with honesty. We gotta stop spinning.

Josh played soft because he was having a hard time handling Julio. The refs made it clear on the Tillman penalty early that they weren't going to allow physical play from DBs.

I just watched the game this morning and it appeared that Josh was having a hard time with Julio's speed. Josh simply is not as fast. Its a different story on turf. Some of those stop on a dime come back routes wouldn't have been as sudden on grass. Add the fact that Ryan played extremely well and got the ball out on time.

Also I am not talking about the long TD catch. That was kind of lucky and actually pretty well covered.

you're clueless

Uhh.. Bene's statement does give at least some merit to his assessment. History has shown Rivera has gotten on players before. For example, getting on our players for shouting "get off our field" after we beat Atlanta in the same year Ryan said the samething. It's not far fetched to think Rivera told our guys to tone it down. Essentially cutting the balls off our mean dog defense.

I say fug it and let this team play to their personality.  I want this team to win the Super Bowl, fug other people's opinions about our team.  I want us to be just as hated as the Patriots.  Get up and celebrate, embrace the game again, and don't hold back Panthers!  Let's fug poo up on Sunday and put everyone on notice for the playoffs.

That's pure hyperbole. Rivera straight up said he was proud of how Josh handled himself in NY.

Stick to the facts, not the stuff fans pretend to know. The media was all over Josh all week. Fact. The refs were obviously more watchful. Fact. They stood at midfield pregame, they threw a flag on Tillman on the first defensive series. Fact. 3/5 of our secondary is 30+ years old and our pass rush isn't getting there so we have to play more zone. Fact.

Josh didn't look totally himself, but to blame Rivera is stupid. Did Rivera also fug with Luke and TD?

So this goes to my point in the RR interview thread where people were yelling troll,...

Just like the San Francisco home playoff game, the team was playing with a Swagger and at one point looked like we would have the momentum to win.

The refs were killing us with some really one sided penalties, the guys were told to back off and it all deflated.

Bene just corroborated my suspicions that the whole Odell thing caused something similar where the guys are told to back off and it just kills their swagger.

From when we were 35-7 to this game that swagger has been GONE. Cam pulled the last drive himself to get that field goal but the damage was there.

So for the Panthers to play like they have all year and overcome the deficiencies like they have all season, the moxy and attitude has to be there as a team.

Hopefully we get it back

it seems the refs were ready to play hardball off the bat and got Tillman so they were not going to allow anything.

They did allow it though.  Roddy did it.  Atl then pretty much played with swag and didn't care about the refs.

Our players let one call change their attitude.

Denver Bronocos IMO are the best D in the NFL.  Also? The 2nd most penalized.  They aren't going to back off b/c one player got hit with a call (who was reponding no nonsense)

Rivera has acknowledged our guys need to be themselves all year and admitted to screwing things up trying to change people (Norman in the past).  Maybe Ron didn't put the clamps on people...sure didn't sound like he liked the non-swag version on Sunday

I love listening to Bene.  Really appreciate his regular shows on WFNZ... was amazed he even did one the afternoon before his surgery.  He is really mature and well-spoken for his age, he has tons of insight into the team and personalities.  Quickly becoming one of my favorite Panthers... especially as it's become obvious how much we miss him on the field.  2014 is shaping up to have been a REALLY great draft class for the Panthers.
