Shula named OC of the Year by PFF

I have my issues with PFF but it is nice to see Shula get some positive attention.  He has held up very well to a lot of negative takes and deserves a ton of credit.

Despite losing his best wideout before the season, Shula molded an explosive offense perfectly suited to his quarterback’s skill set. Somehow he managed to get the best out of nearly everyone he had at his disposal, with only three players who were on the field for 600 or more snaps finishing with a below-average grade. The story of the Carolina Panthers since GM Dave Gettleman came on board is a remarkable one, and integral throughout has been how Shula has built and improved the offense.

Other Panther coaches mentioned;

WR Coach  Second runner-up: Ricky Proehl, Carolina Panthers

DC  Second runner-up: Sean McDermott, Carolina Panthers

Linebackers Coach  First runner-up: Al Holcomb, Carolina Panthers

Secondary Coach   Second runner-up: Steve Wilks, Carolina Panthers

Shula's success is a product of Rivera's personality and coaching style, which is in effect "Don't be afraid to adapt, change, grow, learn".

It doesn't hurt that Shula also has the most dangerous weapon in the league at QB.

If Shula were smart, he'd stay in Carolina and rack up the Super Bowl rings.

Rivera, certainly didn't always feel, act or coach this way, I tell you! LOL

    • Damn back to 10th. I only caught the last 5 minutes but some of those 3's were horrible lol. In that close of game you can't be launching those many hail mary's when you could be chipping away from the foul line. I guess no one wanted to get in the paint and didn't trust the refs to give them the calls maybe? Gonna watch the highlights to get a better idea of the flow of the game
    • I agree.  The Big 12 is a good conference, and he is the swinging dick in that conference.  If Bill Self retires, that sets Kansas back a bit, and Arizona moves even further ahead as the best team in that conference.  Arizona can crush west coast recruiting with USC / UCLA no longer being relevant for LA kids, and Gonzaga not being able to compete moneywise.   If Lloyd comes here, he will be second fiddle to Duke every single year in NIL and recruits.  Not to mention the entire SEC and Big East for kids who want to stay in those regions to play. This is why I keep saying go get Mark Few.  Has proven he can do more with less from an X / O perspective but can also recruit All American players and compete at a high level. He's a god at Gonzaga, but for $9M he'd make the move as that's 4x what he's making at Gonzaga, and makes him the highest paid coach in the country.
    • Certainly not going to miss his constant whiffs on sacks and tackles.
